Hi Brittany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From a very young age, I have dreamed of finding a way to help all women feel unique, beautiful and confident! I enter the world of fashion finding myself looking for my own unique, vibrant style. I never wanted to match every other young woman but instead make my own bold statement! Growing up in the rodeo scene helped give me a wide array of styles, fashion and lead me to find my own look!
After graduating as a cosmetologist, I found my own way into creating life-changing individual looks, that’s where I found my true passion! From being a model, and organizing various fashion shows to attending world markets to stay at the forefront of fashion, I knew I had found my calling! While practicing cosmetology for ten plus years, I developed an even stronger love for helping women find their own beautiful styles in hair and makeup.
It has always been a burning passion of mine to help guide every woman to feel the absolute most beautiful version of themselves, even on their most average day. Velvet Mayhem is the perfect outlet for me to offer that to the public! Not your average boutique, but instead a mixture of vintage and modern looks with head-turning individuality! We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a really fun adventure meeting artists and individuals along the way. Inspiring young and older to follow their dreams and be confident. The biggest struggle is learning who to trust to work alongside me and trusting them not to steal my ideas and business plan as if it was their own.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have always loved fashion and not following societies rules on what is the trend. From redoing my personal clothes and making them into my own. I try to dress in a mixture of modern and oldies. So when I decided to start my own personal line of custom hats, I wanted them to be edgy but incorporate the things that inspire me through everyday life. Such as music, spirituality, nature, family and traveling. I wanted everything one of a kind that nobody else could ever have. With that my biggest success was creating a line that caught the eye of entertainers and now my hats are on three stages and five states in less than one year. Every hat is my personal creation and has a part of my soul made into the design.
Any big plans?
Velvet Mayhem was created at the beginning of the pandemic, making my future goals, not only marketing online but also setting up at as many concerts and markets as I can get to… The ultimate goal is to become a whole seller, putting Velvet Mayhem in storefronts in all 50 states. My favorite way to get my hats in front of people is through artists! Seeing my hats on stage makes all the hard work worth every minute! The bigger the artist, the bigger the audience! And to see a Velvet Mayhem hat on a stage at a minor concert or a scene of a movie would be a dream come true!
My biggest goal would to be to have celebrities wearing my custom hats that helped me through music or other entertainment outlets to be rocking my hats. That I as a child, dreamed about becoming one day. But never losing the dream of why I started Velvet Mayhem.
