

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danelle Murray.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a lifelong entrepreneur, I have always had a passion for running my own business. My husband and I had come across a local Tropical Fish and Coral Wholesale Distribution Company and immediately we knew we had to have it. My husband is an electrical engineer and profession marketing expert, I’m more of a hands-on manager and operations person. We made a deal with the current owner and purchase the company back in January 2017. After a few months of getting to know the system and making some pretty major upgrades to the facility and staff, we felt we were ready to start thinking about the Grand Re-Opening.
We had all the pieces in place. Our Corals and Fish were thriving in their habitat, we had our sales force in place, we had acquired many new suppliers around the world and in June 2017, we re-opened our doors. Since that time, it has been quite a fun ride. Our company is growing much faster than we expected and we have our amazing staff to thank for that. There is no question that keeping Live Tropical Fish and Coral thriving and healthy is hard work and takes a lot of patience as well as dedication. We are proud to be where we are today and expect that our company will be around for many years to come.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the beginning, as all businesses start, there was really no end in sight. We had to roll up our sleeves and tackle dozens of issues within the company.
We had to modify our holding tanks to get more precision water parameters for the animals. This took months to perfect and maintain.
Keeping Coral and Fish healthy is the key to having a successful business in this industry.
We redeveloped the company website to properly interact with our custom sales platform. We hired new staff and made sure they were properly trained. We spent countless hours searching and securing the best suppliers in the world.
Overall, we took over 6 months to prepare this company to reopen. Looking back on it all, we felt at times the work would never end – as every time we would complete a complex task, we would begin another until the work was completed. Finally, the obvious next step was to begin advertising and distributing our livestock across the country.
In June 2017, we had our grand re-opening and many retail locations were happy to give us a chance to prove we had what it took. We were proud to be given a chance to be a reliable supplier of healthy and exotic fish and coral. Since then, we have regularly serviced over 100 retail stores from California to Florida and Puerto Rico to Alaska. We have been adding new accounts on a regular basis and the business has grown faster than we ever expected.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Vibrant Corals story. Tell us more about the business.
A little bit about what we do at Vibrant Corals.
The key to our success has been understanding the needs of our clients. We strive to give unparalleled customer service and support.
We are best known for our ability to deliver healthy Tropical Fish and Coral from point of sale to delivery, across the country and in the same business day. Many of our customers have never experienced placing an order and having it arrive that same day. One of our distinct advantages is shipping from Dallas Fort Worth and Dallas Love Field Airports. We use the Airline Cargo shipping lines and hitch a ride on the commercial flight paths thanks to the help of Southwest, Delta and Alaska Air. By using the airlines, we can pack our Coral and Fish and have them acclimated to their new system and swimming around in their new homes in a matter of 5 to 6 hours anywhere in the USA.

We have been very fortunate to build a team of people who support each other on all fronts.
All of us at Vibrant Corals have put in the required time and dedication to become masterful at our respective positions within the company.
On many occasions we have received shipments of new fish and coral from Australia, which come in late at night. We end up at the warehouse working well past 3am. We rotate the graveyard shift and everyone is equally committed to making sure that the animals coming in after hours are properly acclimated, to ensure their smooth transition to our holding facility.
My husband and I are thrilled about the success we have had and we couldn’t be happier our decision to take on this project.
