Community Highlights: Meet Bryce Richardson of Paperlyte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Richardson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story is centered around cameras. I used to use my grandpa’s home video camera since the age of probably two. When that thing came out, I wanted to shoot with it. It wasn’t until my Sophomore year of high school that I saved enough to purchase my own and I started making videos of everything. Additionally, I was taking a Youth Entrepreneurs class in Kansas (YEK) that really laid some of my groundwork for starting my own business. I realized it is pretty achievable as long as you have an idea and are ready to commit to it.

Fast forward to graduating college and that idea presented itself alongside opportunity. I turned my blossoming freelance videographer career into a small business. I was able to do so by being partnered with someone who I am so close now it wouldn’t be enough to call him my friend, but rather my brother, Jeff.

We have since then been modestly growing Paperlyte as we receive larger contracts and take on more employees. My passion for making videos is still alive and strong but now my focus is taking care of both my employees and contractors as well as growing the business into the global reach production agency we are today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Business-wise, I can not complain. We have always valued relationships and are careful in choosing both our employees and our clients. We are an honest company who values great work and maximizing our abilities on every project, regardless of size. This has brought us great returns in the industry and our community.

We’ve been impressed with Paperlyte, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Paperlyte is best defined as a media production agency. We produce videos and commercials for most of our local clientele however we are known to a broader reach because of our live streaming. We produce content for major brands like Google and Facebook and for lots of players in the video game industry. Live broadcast content allows us to be creative in every avenue of media production. From documentary to commercial to animations and even songwriting. Turn keying the creative production on so many levels gives everyone involved with the project a lot of pride when we are able to see it all come together to tell the story of an event.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Drive and balance is the most important characteristics for my success. I typically like to just keep going, keep progressing, keep raising the bar. I am pretty relentless sometimes and occasionally still pull late nights to get ahead or pursue something that doesn’t directly relate to monetary gain for the business. All that said, it is important that I look for balance outside of the office and I am equally driven for my family and friends.
