Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Woods.
Victoria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a passion for creating things since I was very young. My aunt Glenda made custom signs & corsages for our church growing up & I always loved to watch & help when I could. She also was a great cook! Her peach cobblers were famous back in my hometown & everyone absolutely loved them.
Castle Top Treats started with me making some chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day one year for my mom. I posted them on Facebook because I thought I did a good job & people began to put in ORDERS! I then ventured out to do other treats like chocolate covered pretzels & candy apples. Business began to pick up & this became my new part time job.
I officially started in February 2019 making treats on the weekends & working full time. When COVID-19 hit, I was temporarily laid off & began doing Castle Top Treats all day everyday to make ends meet. I remember saying a prayer in a Quiktrip parking lot one day when times had got really hard. I was very specific with my prayer. In March 2020 God blew my mind and showed me what faith really can produce. I started making cheesecake cups & made 1K in sales in a little over a week just from the cups!! This was when I realized that I have been cheating myself all this time. I always kept my full-time job for financial security. I didn’t have enough faith in myself back then to believe that I can do what I love to do full-time.
My Bishop, Ontario L Jones spoke a word over me one day & he said that I was going to go from “overlooked to overbooked.” THOSE WORDS MANIFESTED. I went from making payment arrangements to auto-pay. I paid my car off, I was able to move out of my apartment… God heard my prayer!!
Knowing that having faith in myself & trusting God was the only thing holding me back from a whole new world motivated me to do more. I went beyond treats and started making cakes.
Needless to say, I am now a full-time baker and I absolutely love it. I make my own schedule, I create my own treats & cake designs, my business cards, labels & even my website. I am very proud of how far I have come & even more excited for what’s to come next!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am most proud of my cakes. At one point in time, I use to say that I would never make cakes because they are too complicated and time consuming. Now I love to make them.
What sets me apart from others is the passion behind my work ethic. I have made so many cakes/treats for free, I have blessed so many people just because I truly love what I do. Cakes pay me well, however, it’s not always about the money for me, it’s about the experience that you have with my business. My slogan is “Let me TREAT you”. It doesn’t only pertain to the treats that you can eat but the experience of how you were treated as well. I strive to give exceptional customer service, delicious and fresh treats and a lasting impression that makes you a forever customer.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a tomboy. I loved to play outside and get dirty. I didn’t become very girly until I got into high school. Once I found my girly side, that’s where I found my true creativity.
