Today we’d like to introduce you to Tahlani Lewis.
Hi Tahlani, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It started in March of 2020, with being furloughed to part-time at my job I was not working as much. Making the decision to refocus my energy and extra time, I turned the front of my house into a salon suite, using a folding table and chairs. Family them became clients, and with the support of my sister, salon furniture started to make an appearance. In October, the opportunity to go on a leave of absence from work was presented and I accepted.
In November, I took a nail class to help perfect my craft, renewed my license and began to accept clients. The expectation was not there for my business to grow as fast as it did. Fast forward to May of 2021 I went searching for a salon suite and found the perfect location! June 2021 I moved into my suite, quit my job and have been busy doing Nails, Pedicures, Eyelash Extensions and Makeup ever since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, yes and no. The main struggle, in the beginning, was gaining new clientele. Due to working from home, it was hard to gain the trust and confidence from others. Yes, I had a decent clientele in my friends and family however in order to grow as a business the need to relocate was there.
Now that I am in a new location, I’m gaining new clients daily!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Specializing in acrylic nails, luxurious pedicures, eyelash extension and beauty makeup, I am well known for jelly pedicure, intricate nail art, the attention to detail and how long clients’ nails last. Also maintaining the health of their nails while wearing acrylic nails is a plus. There is a stigma that acrylic damages your nails, however, it has a lot to do with the quality of product that is used, the way the nail is prepped and application of the acrylic.
The longevity of the nails that I’ve done! Some clients can go as long as 6 weeks with no lifting. What sets me apart from others is consistency and quality control!
