Signed by Tiff launched November 2020. My now boyfriend and I were conversing mid October about generating extra income without breaking the bank to start up. During this conversation, my boyfriend informed me of a good friend of his in Houston that owned her own yard card business.
Within 24 hours, I was on the phone with my now mentor/friend and top yard carder in the country Alicia Huff, the owner of Houston based “It’s A Yard Party.” Alicia and I clicked like we’ve known each other for years and she basically took me under her coattail. With her mentorship and my eagerness to satisfy my customers on their special day, I hit the ground running literally. Within my second month in business, I quickly made a name for myself within the Dallas sector, then Texas and now the country. I am the true definition of a hustler with 400 yards to date installed throughout the Dallas metroplex within 11 months.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No road is smooth when you are independently owned and work outdoors. About 4 months into the business, Dallas was impacted with a snowstorm.
When other yard carders would turn down installs due to the inclement weather. I would say yes. I’ve worked through snow, 100 degree weather, rain, chigger bug infestations and mesquites, chased dogs, and hit on by neighbors. I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am employed full-time at IBM. I am 1 of 4 experts within the country that provide Extended Support for back level software for Middleware products and Operating Systems such as DB2, Tivoli, Spectrum Scale and AIX. Currently, I support thousands of clients within Communications and Industrial Sector within the USA. November 16, will mark my 5 year anniversary with the company. Within those 5 years, I’ve made a name for myself by asking, knocking and receiving the knowledge needed to stand out in a massive company. As an African American woman in corporate America, I’ve learned to be polite but firm! This tactic has generated millions per quarter for my sectors and landed me a spot in the 100% Club for IBM in 2019.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
By spreading the word that Signed By Tiff is one of the best in the business and literally in their own front yard by way of Desoto. I work solely off referrals, no paid advertising. I am also open to collaborating with other yard carders and none yard carders and teach them how to run a successful yard card business.
