Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Mead.
Hi Adrian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in a small town in Louisiana. Although I love my hometown and my family still reside there, I wanted more opportunities. So, after graduating nursing school, I moved to Texas a month later. I knew I eventually wanted a career as a plastic and surgical nurse. With God’s help, I landed my dream job as nurse at a plastic surgeon’s office in Plano that month. I continued to work at this job for three years During that period, I met my now husband. His job then took us to the east coast, where we lived for two years. While living in the Jersey area, I worked for a plastic surgeon in Cherry Hill, NJ and for one in Philadelphia, PA. My husband’s job then took us back to Dallas. So, in 2007, I began working for another plastic surgeon where I started injecting in addition to doing clinical nursing. I continued to do both of these jobs for 12 years. As I continued to grow as an injector, I knew in my heart, injecting was my true passion. With God’s timing and opening of certain doors, I was able land a full-time position injecting. I love enhancing someone’s features all the while making them feel special and beautiful. Just like we each have own unique personalities, we each have our own unique facial features. When designing a treatment plan for a patient, I take in to consideration many facets. I look at proportions, light, shades facial balancing and harmonization. Everything has to work together.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Building a clientele from scratch was a struggle. Although, I knew I had peace when I began this new journey, that doesn’t mean we don’t question things. That’s what we do, we are human. But I knew and often said out loud, “God is going to take care of me.” And, has He. It’s often in the stretch and sometimes painful situations, where the growth happens. We know we aren’t going to break even though it may feel like it during certain seasons.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a nurse injector at North Texas Plastic Surgery, I work with a team of amazing and very talented people. I inject Botox, Dysport and dermal fillers. I can soften lines and enhance certain features, but at the same time I hope to soften your heart and fill it with love, kindness and the Holy Spirit. Someone may be having a rough day or going through a difficult season and if I can offer a kind word or thought, it makes my day and job worth so much more. I want everyone to know on any given day that, they matter. And, if you are in my chair, you will know it as well as receive a YOU MATTER card to take with you.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
That’s easy! God gets the glory. As with everything in life, He opens doors as only He can and will leave one closed that aren’t meant to be open. We have to trust Him and everything else will fall in to place in it’s on time. I have had so many amazing mentors, surgeons and injectors (too many to name) in the industry that have helped pave the way for me. We are all in this ever-growing industry together and it’s so important to lift and support one another.
