Check Out Shane McCormick’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane McCormick.

Hi Shane, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I picked up my grandfather’s Olympus 35mm film camera at the age of 10 I was hooked. I have now been working as a professional photographer on and off for about 10 years. My most recent gig was touring America with Marc Rebillet for 2 months on a sold-out tour.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Becoming a full-time professional photographer often means making a lot of sacrifices. You have to be ready to eat ramen noodles for a long time. You have to take jobs you don’t want, sometimes they may not have anything to do with your career path. It is important to create a foundation for yourself and your business. You must be ready for rejections and immediate critique. As well as learn how to turn your “failures” into learning experiences and later, opportunities.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer, documentarian, and artist. I specialize in portraiture, live events, and music. I would say I’m most known for my portraiture and live music. I’m most proud of my work as a tour photographer and the behind-the-scenes look into the life of a touring artist. One thing that sets me apart from others maybe my ability to step out in front of thousands of people and still do my job like I’m shooting in the studio.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I encourage people to reach out to me on my Instagram at www.instagram.com/portrait_god/.
