Meet Kyler Whitmore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyler Whitmore.

Hi Kyler, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Little Rock Arkansas! As a young kid I grew up playing sports, video games, going outside jus pretty much enjoying being a kid!!!! My mom and dad had a serious gospel group called “DEVINE” they pretty much met up 3 or 4 times a week for practice, studio sessions, performance because of this I was always around music. I can remember being at my grandma’s house with my aunties (Bethany, Sara), writing songs. Remixing Barney theme song and whatever else. Come to think of it I think the first thing I wanted to be was a writer.

My first real dive into music was at the age of 13 I started tracking beats in my dad’s computer using the standard DAW cake walk sending the midi files to the motif, and the ex5!!!! Old school!!!. I think I was like 14 or 15 when we got our first Studio that I was co-owner of I had a key!!!!!

On the weekends, my dad worked with a live sound company so I would have the studio all to myself with occasional pop up from my mom to see what I was doing! When I graduated I hopped in full time with the family business and we were staying very busy tracking had become my main gig I was making and selling beats all the time when I linked up with local rap artist KISHA B we submitted into the wild out Wednesday competition on BET and we won. After that business was really booming!

I moved to Dallas to be inspired. I started taking classes in jazz studies at cedar valley college Where I later graduated with a degree in piano performance. This is where I was gaining my confidence to get on the scene and I eventually had my chance going on my first tour with my new friend Cody Jasper I used to do backgrounds with my talkbox that’s what made me stand out that’s when I linked up with Marcus Jones he asked me to fill in for his keyboard player in his band “the found” and I been in the band ever since.

Today I’m just reaching higher and now a student at media tech set to graduate in April I’m getting back to my first love in creating music can’t wait to see new levels I can reach this go around!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been both smooth at times hazard at times but I think the biggest obstacles have been finding that balance between music life and regular life and making enough time for both being a family man it’s not always so easy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Producer Pianist
Engineers

I think what really sets me apart is my spirit and my love for people my people know I got their back!!!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Honestly being around the church or at a show, I used to always hang by the musicians even tho I wasn’t a player I loved being backstage in the mix!
