Daily Inspiration: Meet Diane Marburger

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Marburger.

Hi Diane, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am a proud mother of 4 and grandmother to 6! Back in the early ’90s when my daughters were little, I attended the Wilton Cake Decorating courses to bake for family and friends. It was fun making beautiful, delicious cakes for special occasions. In 2011, I attended the Culinary School of Fort Worth along with several baking classes at Le Cordon Bleu, Dallas. I’ve always had a love for baking and learning.

In 2014, we became foster parents and adopted our son in 2016. For his 5th birthday party in January 2019, I decided to put my cake decorating skills to the test with themed sugar cookies as his party favors. They did not turn out like I had envisioned! They were a lot harder than expected and I knew I was missing some skill and desperately searched for a class. I found one locally and it was instrumental in what I was missing. I began practicing a lot and making cookies, once again for family and friends. With their encouragement, my newfound hobby was becoming a passion to make beautiful cookies, that tasted just as good for special events.

That summer, while floating in the pool with my sister and daughter, we decided to launch a pilot program and see what happens. So NTX Cookie Co., LLC, a veteran-owned home bakery operating under the Texas Cottage Food Law was launched! My first customers, who I’m so thankful for, were friends. They were faithful in ordering small and large orders repeatedly, and slowly, by word (and taste) of mouth, my small business grew beyond my wildest dreams! I’ve had the privilege of doing custom orders for birthday parties, graduations, weddings, baby showers, business events, and even some large events hosted by Gateway Church Justin and Chick Fil A. I take no orders for granted as I know there are numerous, amazing cookiers in the area. I am thankful and blessed for the ones that choose me to participate in their special occasion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Surprisingly it has been pretty easy! I had no real expectations going into it, it all just happened rather quickly. While shopping at All For Your Cakes in Lewisville one day, I learned of a Facebook group for cookie makers (aka cookiers)! The wealth of information in that group was incredible. From there, I met fellow cookiers who shared the same passion (and crazy hours making cookies), learned about necessary products and online classes, attended group events, and made some incredible cookier friends. I recently attended the largest Cookie Convention, where cookiers from all over the world gathered to network, learn, shop, and have fun! They say “Cookie Friends Are Real” and they truly are!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
NTX Cookie Co. is a custom sugar cookie business operating out of my home under the Texas Cottage Food Law. Each is a thick, soft vanilla cookie with a vanilla royal icing, individually packaged to retain freshness and avoid cross contamination. Many people believe beautiful cookies can’t taste good but I beg to disagree. I’ve had customers say they are the best cookies they have ever had, which is the best compliment one can receive! I love baking the world a better place!

“And He has filled him with the Spirt of God, in wisdom and understanding, in knowledge and all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works – ” Exodus 35:31

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most are surprised to learn I am a US Air Force veteran and a grandma (they call me Babcia which is grandma in Polish)  to 6 wonderful little ones while also having a young son!   My 3 daughters were pregnant together and blessed us with 3 babies in 7 months.  I have a lot of opportunities to bake beautiful cookies every year for family alone!
