Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry Williams.
Hi Jerry, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Pinckney Michigan Pinckney is a small town about 50 miles north of Detroit. I graduated in 1978 went to work at 19 years old in down town Pinckney I did that for a short time then worked in Ann Arbor a town close to Pinckney about 20 miles as a hotel maintenance man, after 7 years I worked in Ypsilanti another nearby town in apartment maintenance, I also worked in building maintenance and got interested in heating and cooling. I went to a small community college for get some education on HVAC. Once I was in school I tried to get a job in my field of study and could not find one because of the economy. I decided to look elsewhere for employment, my girlfriend and I packed up and moved to Texas she is born and raised there, when we got there she got a job at the city of Dallas and I got a building engineers job after a short time I went back to school studying HVAC and eventually I got a job in that field I worked for 18 1/2 years as a HVAC technician then in the last 5 years have worked at a data center. My hobbies are Photography and exercise.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being from a small town I didn’t get the education that most kids get in the big cities so getting a good job was a challenge talking to people was really hard for me my love for Photography helped with my anxiety I always found it much easier to approach people if I had a camera in my hand. I also love exercise because I was very small in school that helped me to Most of my struggles have been with self-esteem and confidence not having a good education I think has been my biggest hurdle.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My main job is a data center technician , my hobbies are photography music and exercise. I got into photography when I was 16 years old shot wedding for while using film then made the transition to digital about 15 years ago at the present time I shoot young models wanting to get into that career.
I also have been using exercise to control anxiety and stay in shape I’ve been working out since I was 19.
My favorite thing to do while just chilling is listen to music.
I came from a small in Michigan and tried to learn a trade do I could get a good job I went to school for heating and cooling I worked at Brandt engineering for 20 years.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I like the convenience of going some place store gas stations etc quickly,
I don’t like all the people cars and city noise.
