Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Perez.
Hi Erin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My interest in hair sparked at a young age considering I grew up watching my family also doing hair. My mom raised me in the salon, I would spend all day with her working at Tony & Guy in north park mall. My aunt and great uncle also we’re in the industry.
I got my license in high school at Lake Highlands in 2016 and have been doing it ever since. This is my passion and I’ve worked hard to get to where I am. At 23 years old I am proud to say this year I opened up my own studio and have been fortunate enough to hire three employees as well!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a roller coaster! But every challenge is a learning experience and it also means I’m growing! If you’re comfortable, you are not growing so I gladly accept all the challenges. COVID definitely had a huge impact on the beauty industry. Also moving salons twice in 2020 and having to rebuild my clientele was very hard but worth it in the end.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love love love all hair coloring. It’s my passion. I’ve always been interested in all forms of art so to me hair is just another canvas for me! Being able to talk and build relationships with clients is just a bonus.
I specialize in blondes and extensions. I think I’m known for helping clients with very dark hair achieve their blonde hair dreams.
I’m most proud of how much knowledge and experience I have at such a young age.
Personally, I think what sets me apart from others is how passionate I am about doing hair. I don’t do it for the money, I do it because I love it. I love starting the project and seeing the final product. I love when it’s a challenge and I figure out a plan to complete the challenge. I love helping people feel good about themselves.
How do you think about happiness?
Building a relationship with people and making them feel comfortable with me in my space makes me happy. Whether it’s at home with family and friends or at work with clients, seeing smiling faces and hearing laughter makes me happy.
