Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Wolf.
Hi Nathan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been a firefighter in the DFW area for 7 years and it is one of the greatest careers. However, being a firefighter, you have quite a bit of time off. One of my side jobs includes installing Christmas lights during the holiday season. I have done that for the last several years as well, but it is only a seasonal job. I like to stay busy and wanted to start a business that I could do year-round during my time off. The opportunity presented itself to help a family friend build a pool and it quickly became something that I was passionate about and wanted to do for others. My business partner, Jordan Hansen, has been a lifelong friend of mine and we started Firefly Outdoor Construction, LLC from the ground up with the support of our families. We both grew up in the DFW area and are excited to serve the community we grew up in.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think starting any new business, there will be some bumps in the road. We started our company in the Summer of 2020, and had two major obstacles which were the pandemic and the 2021 snowstorm/freeze. These two events made it difficult to find pool equipment in stock and caused delays. Luckily, supplies are now more readily available. Also, we have since been able to build relationships with amazing subcontractors and are able to deliver a project that is truly impressive and exceeds customer expectations.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Firefly Outdoor Construction, LLC is a family and firefighter-owned and operated company. We proudly serve the DFW area and specialize in creating and customizing your perfect backyard oasis. From pools and hot tubs to outdoor kitchens, the options are endless. First, we meet with the customer to discuss their ideas and goals for the project and take a look at the backyard space. Next, we create a 3D rendering of the project which helps the customer see their idea and vision come to life. Once the plans are approved, the construction process begins and we will be there every step of the way from start to finish.
I am most proud of building this company from the ground up with my business partner, Jordan Hansen, and being able to include our families in our business. I would say what sets our company apart from others is that the customer isn’t just another number, we truly get to know each customer and form a personal relationship with them throughout the project.
How do you think about happiness?
One of the things that makes me the happiest is seeing the homeowners’ vision come to life. There is nothing better than seeing the excitement on their face when they see the completion of their project. We hope that Firefly Outdoor Construction provides them with endless memories with their families.
