Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Goodloe.
Hi Taylor, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had my son in January of 2020 shortly before the pandemic started, when I was scheduled to go back to work in March of 2020 the world shut down and I was left without a job. I have been an esthetician for 6 years and always knew I wanted a business for myself with my career. The thought came while I was sitting at home with my son dealing with extreme postpartum depression. It was an impulse decision at first, but then I sat down and made a business plan including services, location(s), and goals to open. I first opened July 8, 2020 in my hometown Chicago, support was pouring in, and in March of 2021, I flew to Dallas with thoughts of relocating. I began searching for spaces in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I sat down again with a new plan for business in Dallas and I relocated September 18, 2021.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not having a job meant not having as much money or resources to open a business. A week after I opened for business, postpartum depression took a toll and I had to take a step back and get my mental health in order. I began therapy and was then able to focus on the things I enjoyed, which included starting a new business. Juggling being a new mom and new business owner during a major pandemic was not easy, I spent most days breastfeeding while creating promotions and ways to bring new clients in. I knew it would be a little harder because of how many were affected by the pandemic. I used social media as my biggest tool. January 2021, I then became a single mom, which created more challenges because I had to get a new place to live with a 1-year-old by myself and continue running a new business.
We’ve been impressed with Tays Beauty Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tays Beauty Bar is a full-service beauty bar specializing in makeup facials and body waxing. I am known for my brow wax and tint combo. I created Tays Beauty Bar to be a place where people could come and feel beautiful when leaving. Tays Beauty Bar became my sanctuary where at times when I felt low, I went into my space and put my energy into my work. I wanted that to be the same for my clients, if they are having a bad day, they can come into Tays Beauty Bar to relax, talk, or even have a sip of wine. Tays Beauty Bar is about making you feel beautiful mentally and physically and that’s what makes us different. I am most proud of the success the business has had with me being the only owner and operator of it. When you come to Tays Beauty Bar you will leave feeling clean fresh and with a smile on your face. In January 2022 Tays Beauty Bar will officially began offering nail services.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my clients feeling safe and trusting me with their skin. I know what it feels like to go to someone new and allow them to perform services in such an important area. To this day I still spend time continuously learning new techniques and perfecting my skills.
