Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelli Christina.
Kelli, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kelli Christina- Top Female Healthcare Executive
As a woman in today’s world, Kelli Dennehey Christina attributes her success to her hard work, education, and determination. With 20 years of specialized medical recruiting experience and 10 years in business management, she is currently the CEO, owner, and director of recruiting for KD-Staffing. Ms. Christina created KD-Staffing on the idea that “recruiting is an art.” She has perfected her skills in this “art” through a number of managerial and leadership positions since the start of her career; she became a restaurant manager and a boss at nineteen years old. Before she started a career in recruiting, Ms. Christina obtained a bachelor’s degree in business, hotel, and restaurant management from the University of North Texas. With 30 years of career experience, her advice to younger generations of women entering the workforce is to remember the importance of education. She also advises them to be strong-willed and to never give up.
Kelli Christina is an international best-selling author, public speaker, CEO, and business coach current day. Ms. Christina has worked part-time government projects for ten years. She loves “making a difference” on today’s world.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had a life coach and life program for 15 years and I have dedicated a lot of time and energy to job coaching through 20 plus years of recruitment and life coaching on challenges.
At fifty-one years old, then I can honestly say that I have lived many wonderful years with dark times and years in between. I believe that hard times and struggles will strengthen and educate you for the future. Learn from mistakes and do better for yourself in the future. Strong leaders take risks and know failure; they push forward through hard challenges and rise again.
I just released an Interntional bestselling book this year that’s rated an inspirational testimony book and life story. It’s about falling down and rising back up. Lawsuits hit medical staffing in 2010 and I would be a homeless recruiter in 2011 that lost everything and forced to rebuild my own company KD-Staffing. Top executives fall down but “do you have what it takes to get back up?”
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have 20 years in recruitment and the medical industry, and ten years prior in restaurant management. My corporate background in recruitment included running the travel divisions prior to opening KD-Staffing in 2007. For those that know staffing, there is short-term staffing with 13- and 26-week contracts and there is permanent staffing. Different segments and niches. I opened KD-Staffing for permanent medical professionals, and we are contingent which means you are billed upon service. We tend to stay specialized and focused on staffing for our hospitals and medical practices. Nursing departments, nursing managers, directors, mid-levels, and/or “hard to fill” positions.
About five years ago, I switched our mission statement to reflect a “less is more philosophy.” What does that mean? My team focuses on less clients and larger amount of service towards our clients. We focus on long-term clients and results while gaining more job orders upon proving our level of service. We tend to ask for more information upfront from our clients so that qualified medical professionals have more information upfront. Our clients do not want a sloppy resume handed to them. They want candidates on a scale of “1 to 10” at least an “8” and accepting a job. We prequalify and spend time upfront in the interview processes.
We offer fair rates towards our clients. Our medical professionals receive a few incentives by going through KD-Staffing at absolutely no charge for our clients.
We have a lot of upfront recruitment systems in place so that we can remain organized in the job interview and transition process. Our team spends a lot of time with the moving and transition process and our medical professionals. Successful recruitment includes a more personable relationship with our medical professionals and their specialized needs. Follow-up and organization is a huge success factor in recruitment roles.
Like any job, sales, and recruitment staff half to be trained for success to be successful. I have a designed three-month training session for our team members on the phones with the ideas revolving around “doubling your sales” results. When people think of recruiters than they often think the job is as easy as picking up the phone and stating, “you have the job.” The interview and job process are an organized art and process involving way more steps for success. I often repeat “your calendar is your brain.”
Any big plans?
I have had an exciting year promoting my newest book and international bestseller “Riding the Executive Roller Coaster-Medical Staffing Cases.” I will continue projects with my newest company opened in 2018 KDC-Making A Difference, LLC which is books and public speaking.
No big changes, just a consistent plan and a few adjustments and growth strategies for KD-Staffing 2022. We have all been hit with challenges during pandemic years. I remain positive for our future while we all work out a few business challenges.
I bought a new property this year and I love Texas.
