

Today we’d like to introduce you to Don Williams.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Let’s start with my first paying job. When I was a kid, you mowed the yard because your parents told you to, I didn’t get paid for doing my part around the house. My first ‘real’ job was driving a John Deere tractor behind the combines at my grandfather’s wheat harvest. I think I was 11 or 12 years old. I learned two things that summer. I learned how to work hard and that I didn’t want to farm. As a freshman in college, I was #1 Sales Rep in the US (out of 400 reps) and at age 20 had left college and was the #1 Sales Manager in the Country. I started my first Company at age 26. I’ve since founded a dozen companies and am currently a principal in 5 firms. 4-time #1 Best Selling Author, Host of the iTunes new and noteworthy podcast The Proven Entrepreneur Show. My mission is to help others, help others. Today I coach entrepreneurs and executives in marketing/sales, CX, and leadership.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Certainly, at times the road has been smooth as silk and other times the road has been a true challenge. My first Company struggled horribly for the first two years, before we grew to 22 locations in 6 years with no outside capital or debt. I’ve been fortunate to lead Companies in Consumer Sales, Insurance, Real Estate, Business Services and others. The principals of business are common even in diverse industries. Rule #1 is: IT’S ALL ABOUT PEOPLE ALL THE TIME.

Writing books led me to speaking on stages, stages led me to coaching, Covid and the “lockdown” led me to launching The Proven Entrepreneur Show podcast. My book Romancing Your Customer highlights the magic of delivering exceptional experiences to your prospects, customers, team, and self. Most people think they sell products or services. Customers judge us on the experience. I provide 100% satisfaction guaranteed coaching to build sales, culture &/or leadership. Most of my clients are “scientists” or persons with very high IQ’s . Emotion not intellect motivates people to make buying decisions or join a team or boost their performance. I help people raise their EQ so it balances with their IQ. It’s almost magical how quickly and easily clients see results.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a child I loved baseball and football. I’ve played &/or coached baseball or softball most of my life. I think positive organized sports provide a great opportunity to teach children life skills. I was a good student and a voracious reader. I still read LOTS of books. I think continuous learning is paramount to any form of success. Though I was a high school debater, I was a quiet child. It’s funny because I make my living today talking. If you are in business, you have the chance to be your own media channel and you probably should be.
