Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Newton.
Hi Kelly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Microblading Correction journey started a little over 5 years ago. So many women were walking around with the same patchy, discolored, and oddly shaped eyebrows, because everyone was getting microblading—a technique that essentially cuts into the skin and implants pigment into the cuts, destroying your face with permanent scar tissue.
So, what do you do? The options were not that great either. Most microbladers have no experience before calling themselves an “Artist” after taking a one-day course online and buying a set of blades on Amazon. It’s scary when you think about that.
More often than not, microblading doesn’t achieve desirable results. And it quickly fades into a blurry/smeared mess forcing you to get regular touch-ups that only make things worse and are more difficult to correct. Yet, microblading continues to be branded as the latest way to get “carefree natural-looking eyebrows”, which still makes me laugh because microblading is not new. In fact, it started in Asia about 25 years ago and only became popular recently here in the United States.
I remember thinking, “there has to be a better way.” So, I searched the world over to bring together best practices, new methods, and unique tools to create a real solution that truly is one-of-a-kind and achieves the most beautiful results for brows and lips. It took years of research, development, and time to perfect along with a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. Microblading Correction has helped countless clients restore their facial appearance and self-confidence. My unique technique is not only for correcting microblading mishaps but is also used to create amazing new brows for those that thankfully didn’t hop on the microblading train.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It wasn’t always smooth sailing…definitely some struggles along the way. For starters the name of my company – Microblading Correction. Five years ago, not many knew the adverse effects of microblading nor seeking correction as it was so new to the US. Most were just happy to have eyebrows, blind to the awfulness, and didn’t realize there was a better alternative.
There were many days where I felt like giving up and tired of arguing online with microbladers regarding my posts. However, I was on a mission to not only educate others on the harmful effects of microblading but also provide a lasting, natural-looking better alterative with less trauma to the skin. It was quite difficult – not knowing who was going to be in my chair, what kind of mess I would be correcting for the day, or the dreadful news of telling a client that their brows/skin was so damaged by microblading that I was unable to help. Fast forward to today, more people are aware and actually now see the effects of microblading that the first words typed into google are now “microblading correction”.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I created my own technique for permanent brows that’s less invasive, more natural-looking, and lasts longer without the need for touch-ups as opposed to microblading. I am famous for my unique technique for New Brows, Microblading Correction, and Lip Blushing.
All the services I provide are completely different than others – from the technique, pigments, needles, and machine to the healing process.
First, let’s start with the fact that MicroBladers are trained, certified, and working on your face in less than 24 hours after learning… and some just learn online. This is INSANE.
Second, they use stencils to trace a brow, removing your natural hair and relocating your brows if it doesn’t fit within the stencil. Whereas, I trained/practiced for months before my first client (aka ME) and I custom draw each and every brow by hand, naturally enhancing what you already have for the most natural-looking brows.
When microblading is performed they use a hand-held micro razor blade to slice open the skin multiple times creating scar tissue (making pigment less retainable/eventually doesn’t stay at all) along with large crusty scabs that take up to 30 days to heal. Then, directly after you are finally healed (and looking somewhat normal) it’s time to repeat that process at your 6-week touch-up….so, another 30 days down. Outcome of microblading: Downtime 2 months with touchup, scabs, scar tissue, un-natural looking, blurred mess that will only last around 6 months before you need to repeat the entire process AGAIN! I use a facial machine and ONE very fine needle (equivalent to an insulin needle) resulting in less trauma to the skin, no scabs, no touch-ups, and an easy 7-day healing process making your brows look amazing each day!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
What’s the most surprising thing about me? I was my first client and personally did my own permanent brows and lips. What better way to see someone’s work than on themselves. I always say if your technician’s brows look crazy, get ready… yours are about to look the same as they obviously think that’s a good look. BTW, mine look amazing!!!
