Today we’d like to introduce you to J$PH.
Hi J$PH, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
From as far back as I can remember music and self-expression have been pivotal in my life. I’ve always used writing and music as an escape and release. Writing poems and listening to albums helped me cope with the highs and lows of my life. It wasn’t until I recorded my first song at 19 that I feel in love with making music. Since that day I have released 3 Album, 1 Live Album, 2 Eps, and a handful of singles over a 10-year span.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has a winding path. I’ve had really high moments and really low moments. From personal issues, family troubles, and industry trauma. By the grace of God, I have been able to persevere and keep doing what I love!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a rapper, I am a storyteller. I telly my story and the stories of people I’ve grown up with or around. I try to be as honest and vulnerable as I can in my music. I believe there is power in vulnerability so I try my best to offer that to the world. By doing that it automatically sets me apart.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Create what moves you. If what you create moves you it will more than likely move people. Stay true.
