Hi Diamond, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Diamond Monroe; I started my business in 2012. I was a college freshman working 2 jobs struggling to care of myself.
Being 17 years old with no parents or financial support.
I turned my side passion into a hustle.
I then wrote out my business plan and started the idea of wanting my own hair company in college. I’ve always been a girl who enjoyed the idea of “supply and demand” while attending college in San Antonio, Texas I found that the hair industry was very limited. Collaborating with so many different college girls, I realized we all had one thing in common.
WE ALL NEEDED OUR HAIR DONE!
So, I did many late nights of research to source the best hair possible.
Building a legitimate business wasn’t an overnight success, a lot of tears, disappointments, failures at such a young age took place, but no matter the battle I have always remained CLASSY, PASSIONATE, PATIENT, and allowed god to lead & guide me.
Fast forward to 2021 I’ve been running a successful hair company for almost 10 years this year.
We are very well-known and now successfully operating a 6-figure brand, while to providing the best customer service around the clock.
Although my business will continue to provide an online presence. I will be officially retiring from being a hairstylist in MAY!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has defiantly been the most challenging. Owing a business has taught me so much about myself, the people around me, and the true definition of being a black-owned business. Some of my struggles came from individuals stealing my inventory, misusing funds for personal gain. Customers scamming me for chargebacks with their bank but as I continued to grow it made me ensure that I kept my business protected with insurance and all legal paperwork
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently the Head hairstylist to over 1200 clients in 3 different cities. I’ve built clientele in Houston, Dallas and San Antonio, Texas.
I’m known for being the jack of all trades. I provide hair extensions, custom wig units, natural seamless sew-in installs, my infamous Half Up/ Half down, and ponytails.
Honestly, I’m most proud of how I’ve created a brand that makes women feel good. Seeing the joy on their face after I share my talents give me the sweetest joy.
I feel what makes me so different from other companies, would be my willingness to build solid relationships with them. it’s way more than “doing their hair” it’s a connection that they grow to love and support.
