Conversations with Kristen Neal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Neal.

Kristen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been fascinated by all things audio/video production, photography, and web design. I guess you could say that this is in my blood; it’s what makes me come alive! Middle school really opened up the world of marketing to me when they gave us an A/V project where we had to create a commercial for our music festival-that was so cool being able give people information about how they could be there too… I didn’t take coding as coursework during high school but decided on using Wix after becoming frustrated with not finding enough jobs posting online or anywhere else either just because it wasn’t prominent enough yet back then. Designing websites became part of my little part-time job in High School and throughout college.

The journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur has been one of self-discovery for me. I always knew that there was something different about my gift, but it wasn’t until recently when life put me in difficult situations which caused some major reevaluating on what exactly this “gift” might be…

I now understand why everything happened as such so many times – because each challenge gave birth another opportunity; an answer would surely present itself if you paid attention! And guess who’s here?! The answer IS YOURSELF!!!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s true that no matter what industry you’re in, there will always be challenges. However; I can say with confidence it has not been smooth sailing for me at all times! Getting rid of the security and comfort from my old job to pursue entrepreneurship was definitely one big risk factor involved here–but now as soon as things are rolling along nicely-you know how they say “the journey becomes more important than the destination”? That really rings true when thinking about why people take these kinds of risks: They want their lives’ meaning beyond just making money or being famous…so I chose to do something that has value to me and helps other people.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I design websites for coaches, spiritualist, and naturopathic practitioners who want to take their business one step further. By using my creativity and keeping the user experience in mind, I create websites which are built on gaining leads and booking more clients.

I have been designing websites for the past few years and I am now expanding my horizons. My most recent project allowed me to build an online course site, which is something that not many designers are able to do! The feedback from clients has all seemed positive so far because they can see how much time went into understanding what their goals were before starting work on anything else- this really impressed them. I strive every day towards building professional relationships while also staying empathetic throughout each interaction with my clients.

How do you define success?
What if you were to set a goal and never reach it? You would still have learned something new about yourself. When we fail, our lives are transformed in ways that can be invaluable for future success!

Success is simply setting out to do something and giving it your full effort- it’s about the journey not the destination!
