Meet Tiffany Richey of Pinspiraton Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Richey.

Hi Tiffany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a child, I spent my summers at my dad’s and my grandad’s transmission shop. Growing up in this (greasy) environment you can imagine how boring my summers might be. I had to use my imagination to keep myself busy and occupied. I loved art and would spend my time drawing and painting. At 8 years old I started commissioning art projects for my dad’s friends. Some of my first pieces were drawings and paintings of popular cartoon characters. Soon after I started painting cartoon characters onto welding shields for my dad’s work buddies.

After graduating high school and college I started my professional career as an interior designer. I loved design and found some small success with a blog I had created. Soon after, I had a project published in HGTV magazine. I even curated a sale for Joss and Main. Although I loved this line of work, I felt like something was missing. I decided to go back to school, so I enrolled in the University of North Texas, I started taking all sorts of art classes. I took drawing, painting, ceramics, metals-you name it, I took it. I realized what was missing in my life. I loved creating and making things with my hands. I realized my true passion took me back to what I enjoyed as a young child. I started dreaming of space where I could share my passions with my community. Around the summer of 2019, I came across a new franchise called Pinspiration. I loved that it incorporated everything I had a passion for. I filled out the paperwork, and had several interviews, and was awarded the Fort Worth location. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business anytime is not for the faint of heart. Staring a business in 2020, was almost impossible. It took several months to find a space for my studio. I finally found the perfect spot and signed a lease on a 1st generation building in November of 2019. As I was waiting on my landlord to hand over my space so I could start my construction, the world was hit by Covid-19. Everything came to screeching halt. As I sheltered in place with my family, I started to wonder if my business was going to fail before I even got started. With the cards stacked against me, I cautiously began my journey opening my studio. We had a lot of delays in construction and I ended up opening my studio in December of 2020. The day we opened the first vaccine was approved. I decided to take this as a sign of better days to come. We have now been open for a little over a year! Yay! We have had to deal with all the obstacles 2020-2021 have brought. A global pandemic, sick employees, shipping and supply chain issues, inflation, worker shortages just to name a few. Maybe the biggest challenge was opening a space that required people to gather and celebrate when the world was told to stay at home. We masked up and went to work anyway.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pinspiraton Fort Worth?
Pinspiration Fort Worth is a gathering place for young and old to try their hand at making projects together, whether for a special occasion or just everyday fun. Guest are able to unleash their creativity and spend quality time creating amazing projects. Pinspiration allows customers to create on their own schedule while in the studio. Pinspiration staff is there to guide you through your project every step of the way.

Pinspiration curates our selection of crafts based on what is currently trending on social media sites and websites like Pinterest. Options include string art, acrylic pouring, wooden pallet signs, custom candles, and gift options. Kids can make plush animals, fairy houses, gumball machines, and other toys and accessories. New projects will rotate in and out of each season; winter, spring, summer, fall, and holidays.

The studio itself is designed to be an inspiration to guests, full of crafting tables, a wide variety of supplies, fun light fixtures, and walls covered in craft options. The studio includes a “VIP Party Room” that will be a perfect venue for birthday parties, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, baby showers, sorority gatherings, fundraisers, private crafting workshops, and any other fun celebration or event.

The Splatter Room is one of our studio’s more unique attractions; it is a space where customers can create their own “Jackson Pollock-inspired” splatter art. Guests suit up head-to-toe in protective gear, caps, and booties, then fling paint onto a canvas.

“We envision Pinspiration being a place where people can truly connect – both to each other and to their inner child! In the modern-day and age, getting quality time together can be a challenge, and most of us don’t exercise our imaginations enough; and Pinspiration can be that place for our community.”

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
In this day in age, it can be hard to unplug and live in the moment. I makes me happy to see customers young and old, come in and make something they are truly proud of. There is something so gratifying about starting and finishing a project by hand. It doesn’t have to be the most creative or original piece of art to fulfill your inner artist.

Pricing:

  • Splattter 29$ per person
  • Parties staring at $375
  • Main studio crafts $15-65$
