Meet Evan Renfroe of Maximized Media Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Renfroe.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Maximized Media Productions actually began as a passionate side project. After 10+ years in the fitness industry, I decided it was time to pursue something new. I’ve always been a fan of visual storytelling, and after years of being a business owner, I’d grown to really enjoy marketing and advertising, so it seemed like a natural blend of the two areas of interest, (video and marketing).

When getting into video, I knew absolutely nothing about camera basics, editing, really all of it was foreign to me. As I was preparing to make one of my very first videos, I remember searching YouTube for “How to Film Yourself”… I knew it had something to do with a tripod, and the camera needed to be facing me, but that was about all I knew. Fast forward a few years and many hours attending the prestigious “YouTube University”, and I now have the pleasure of running a successful video marketing business.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The simple answer, no, absolutely not.

There have been a number of struggles, beginning a new career at the age of 30 isn’t particularly easy, especially when you have a family and young kids, so the big decisions tend to carry a bit more weight.

Honestly, I believe that in entrepreneurship struggles are par for the course. So, everything ranging from finding a balance with work, family, self-development, etc, can be a struggle, working a full-time job so that I could build my business at night and on the weekends was a challenge and so is wearing every hat, as a one-man show.

But difficult as it may be, it’s 100% worth it. I’m very much blessed and privileged to be able to do something I greatly enjoy and to see how it helps other small business owners is a huge contributor to why I do what I do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Maximized Media Productions provides video marketing to small businesses locally. I know it can be a struggle owning and running a small business, as small business owner myself, so the goal is to link arms with other business owners and leverage the power of strategic video content and media for marketing their business, and better connecting with ideal customers and prospects.

One of the primary differences in my approach is that I always aim to make the content meet the needs and goals of the business, rather than just creating a “pretty video” to live on a website. I respect the fact that a business owner is investing time, energy, and resources into my service, so I approach each client project as if it were my own.

I tend to view most of what I do as having room for improvement, but I can say when I stop to reflect, I’m proud of taking a great risk of stepping into an entirely “unknown” industry and building a business around passions and value.

I love Entrepreneurship and have a great deal of respect for others who have chosen this lifestyle as well, so working alongside them to help promote and grow their businesses is a great pleasure.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Making an impact, be it relationally, providing greater value than what was expected, or just being a caring and empathetic person to all those I’m blessed to come into contact with.

My faith is incredibly important to me and is the foundation for how I view people and the world.

I have a wonderful family, great friends, and get to do what I love.

I want to steward each of these aspects of my life well.
