Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Day.
Hi Kayla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of moving to a city and running a business that has an impact on others. Growing up in a really small town, I knew I would have to work a little harder to achieve my dreams. I worked my way through college and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Arkansas. After receiving my degree, I landed a job in Dallas, TX. Fast forward to when Covid-19 shut down our world, I was furloughed from my Data Analyst position at the time. Little did I know, this was going to change my life forever. Instead of applying for other analyst positions, something was holding me back. Did I really love sitting at a computer with excel sheets every day? No. I knew this was my opportunity to take a leap of faith. I have always been attracted to the beauty industry and making other women feel confident in their own skin! With the support from my husband and family, I decided to go to Aesthetician school and the idea of Skyn Lab was born.
My Father-in-Law, Dr. Gustavo Day, has been a physician at Medical City Dallas for over 20 years. After months and months of planning, we decided Skyn Lab would be the perfect addition next to his primary practice in the facility. Not only do we have a physician on-site 24/7, his current patients are able to enjoy the treatments of our Med Spa as well. Even with the roller coaster of ups & downs, it has been such a journey watching this dream turn into a reality over the past two years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As we all know, the past two years has been nothing short of challenging for everyone. Starting a new business during a pandemic had its obstacles every day. I believe keeping a positive mindset, surrounding yourself with good people, and gratitude helped us get through all the challenges we faced. Keeping this purpose in life is key!

My husband, Matias, has never failed to push me to achieve my dreams. Even on my lowest days, he has always been right by my side and the best partner. Our families have also been a huge part in the success of Skyn Lab with their never-ending love and encouragement. Gustavo and Mariana Day deserve so much credit for trusting and supporting Matias and I through the past two years and helping us build this beautiful clinic. The Skyn Lab team has truly amazed me. Of course, starting at a new business can be feeling of uncertainty, but every single team member we have pushes each other to be better. We are a family and we our always there to pick up one another. As a leader, it makes me so proud to see them grow and achieve their own personal dreams!
