Today we’d like to introduce you to Tay’Sha Ward-Crockett.
Hi Tay’Sha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I started working for Wendy’s when I was 15 as my first job. I was always my mama 1 child that just knew how to make some money lol. I wouldn’t say I was a trouble child but most definitely had an independent mindset and wanted to be out on my own at an early age. My mom had a dream of us going to college which I’m still very open too, but hair is really what I love, I hope to be a celebrity hairstylist one day and I’m claiming that this year! I loved working and still do to this day I been told since 15 I’m not like the average teen. I started braiding 14 and wasn’t doing others until I finally started in my first shop at 17, with school and my job I did about 1 head a week. As years went on fast forward to 2019 working for Walmart 2 years and braiding part-time, I finally decided to quit working for people and took a crack at doing full-time. It was summer of 2021 in the month of July to be exact I made my first 25k in doing braids in 5 months by time 2021 ended! My biggest achievement ever! Being my own boss was the best decision I ever made I don’t regret not one bit of it. I thank my aunt Tabresha who have changed my life in ways I can’t thank her enough for. I worked day in and out with absolutely no breaks in between with no complaints… One of my biggest flexes is I can braid a full head no matter the length in under 5 1/2 hours. Don’t believe me? come book an appointment!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, not everybody wanted a “kid “ in they head I really had to show people I take this seriously this is not some I do for fun or money. I literally be meditating while braiding.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Dallas braider I’m known mostly for my fast Knotless braids you won’t be in my chair all night and it most definitely won’t look like no quick work. What set me from other braider is I don’t get over and I don’t do extra. All them rules and unnecessary hidden fees these other hairstylist prioritize that’s how you know when this not what they really wanna do
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Me and most of my clients have relation they comfortable with telling me what’s going on ‘cause I relate to so many people cause what I been through, when you thoroughly carry on and understand where you client coming from they’ll most definitely return and refer others
