Daily Inspiration: Meet Ciara Alford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara Alford.

Hi Ciara, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi, my name is Ciara Alford and I am originally from Dallas/Fort Worth Texas. I attended high school in Philadelphia New York where I got my high school diploma at Indian River high in 2011. I started seeing things at an early age that a child should’ve seen it made me mature a lot faster than most so I developed a program and called Daughters of Imani. A big sister program that I launched February 14, 2016, after moving back to Texas from Columbia, SC. I had 13 mentees Alone and it was one of the most amazing times in my life. I got to have one on ones with the next generation and I thank God that he allowed me to be a vessel to do so. I literally am to my girls what I wanted someone to be for me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Doing it alone has been the biggest challenge because I didn’t want just anybody connected to them. I put a lot of blood sweat and tears into it and I wasn’t willing to compromise with any of the guidelines so that alone has been the most challenging. Not to toot my own horn but every single mentee that I’ve mentored in high school has gone on and went to college some still in and some has graduated already. I’m pretty tough when it comes to education but they understand the expectation and get it done I regret nothing so far.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m currently in Homewood Alabama for work as a trainer for whataburger so basically, the best of the best gets chosen to open other stores across the country back in Texas I am a Team Lead at my home store I literally say this often all I have is my name and my reputation first impressions are everything and I always try to put my best foot forward in all things.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I’m a great listener I’m currently in school for business administration but I definitely should’ve went to school for counseling and I have Patients not too often do you see someone with both but that’s two of my top strengths.
