Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Macias. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Anthony “Ant” Macias is a self-described foodie and has ran his Instagram page ant_eats214 since 2016. Ant is a taco lover who enjoys finding and trying tacos all over Dallas, in Texas and anywhere he travels. Ant has been a taco curator for Taco Libre where he works hand and hand with taqueros from the US and Mexico. Anthony was a contributor writing mainly about tacos for the Dallas Observer from September of 2020 to October 2021 and tried to bring a voice to many taquerias that might be overlooked by the mainstream media. Ant also loves BBQ, burgers, and sweets.
Ant is a native Texan and grew up in Oak Cliff, then moved to San Antonio where he attended St. Mary’s University on the West Side of town surrounded by tacos, tamales, and culture. Ant has also lived in Arizona and has experienced the different types of Mexican flavors offered in the Sonoran-style food. Ant has been back in Dallas for over 10 years and during that time, he has tried to grow his knowledge of tacos, taquerias, and taqueros in Dallas and Texas.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of struggles is trying to explain what I do to try to help promote taquerias that are mostly family-owned, they are a little apprehensive when people start asking questions about the food and business. I try to build relationships with the owners and chefs (taqueros & taqueras) to learn as much as I can about the food and why the cook and serve items they do. Through these relationships, I have been able to put myself in a situation where they respect my opinion and feedback.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I also use this platform and work with local businesses to donate meals to needy families during the holidays. For the last two years, we have been able to deliver meals to multiple families.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I think with the focus on social media when done right creatives can help small business grow and get exposure. I use my voice and platform to promote small businesses that don’t always have a voice.
