Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray Stith.
Hi Ray, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Most of my adult life has been about finding ways to serve others. After college, I joined the military and served as an Army officer for 6 years leading soldiers both domestically and in foreign countries like Afghanistan in combat. The feeling that I got from being a servant leader and having an impact on others’ lives was something that I didn’t expect, but also couldn’t fight. I knew that whatever I did in the future would have to involve finding ways, no matter how small, to serve others and have a positive impact on those around me.
As our family grew, my wife and I wanted to find a way to show our children that hard work and the right attitude can go a long way, while simultaneously building a family business. I knew that whatever we chose, we’d have to serve our community and have a positive impact in one way or another. Thus, Maglenson Events was born. Today, we have a newly renovated event space in Denton, TX where our clients can gather for fellowship, friendship, and fun. We are able to host a myriad of events, from birthday parties to weddings, and provide an elegant venue at the price our clients deserve.
Our goal is to serve our community by helping our clients create amazing memories, one gathering at a time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anything in business is smooth. There are always bumps in the road. Aside from normal challenges that most small businesses face like having enough capital, finding customers, and always trying to provide the best experience for those that we serve, finding ways to balance family life in the midst of running a business is always hard.
Having a toddler and a pre-teen presents a certain level of fun on its own, but doing so while running a family business is interesting to say the least. We find ways to overcome it however and I think we will be a better family for it. We stay faithful and continue to push forward, knowing the future is bright.

Maglenson Events is a premier event venue based in Denton, TX. We offer exceptional and tailored services to all our clients, domestic and corporate. We provide our clients with a contemporary, clean event space to host a myriad of events, while also providing the amenities and network or preferred vendors to make it your own. We will also offer the necessary tables, chairs, and technology expected for everything from networking events to birthday parties. Our curated partnerships will not only cover services outside our per view (i.e., photography, catering, DJ, etc.) but will also build our community partners’ trust, loyalty and referrals. Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think it’s all about being yourself and realizing that many people want to see you do well. I’ve found that one of the best ways to get what you want in life is to always find ways to help others get what they want in life. I serve because it’s my calling and I enjoy it, but doing so has helped me in many other unexpected ways as well.
