Today we’d like to introduce you to Xzandria Florence.
Xzandria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I initially launched Kreative Designz back in 2004 with the intent to create invitations, stationery, brochures, and business cards. My creativity seemed to blossom and it gave me a sense of peace seeing the pieces I created come to life. I focused on the invitations for a few years, but I wanted to continue to grow the business by offering other services. It wasn’t until a soror (Delta Sigma Theta) asked me to bling out a pair of converse for her daughter’s birthday. As with anything, I was nervous and hesitant, but I accepted the challenge. While working on them, it was like a whole new world of creativity was born, and from that point on… Custom Chucks became the headline for Kreative Designz.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When I did this interview back in 2018, I had a few challenges, but it was nothing major. It was smooth sailing being that I wasn’t running the business full time, it was more of a hobby that I did on the side than anything. However, I am happy to say that about a year after the initial interview, I resigned from my full-time job of 8 years to operate Kreative Designz full time. So, let’s circle back to the original question. has it been a smooth road, not as smooth as I would like, but it is coming along. Since this is now my full-time baby, there are a lot of long nights and early mornings. Some mornings I wake up not knowing if the day is going to flow smoothly or not but I put my best foot forward to make it happen regardless. The biggest challenge is working with different clients you have to make sure that everyone is on the same page and has a clear understanding. I’ve learned that you have to meet customers where they are when they are inquiring about pricing and the services you provide. Some clients will try to negotiate your pricing or flat out tell you, you’re charging too much. As a business owner you may have understanding customers, rude customers, and those that just want to give you a hard time just because. Those same customers may question your whole business, but I had to realize that all potential clients may not end up being actual clients and that’s okay. A lot of people love custom items, but they are hesitant to purchase those items because of pricing and the length of time it takes to complete an order. So ultimately you have to work with those individuals that are willing to work with your business.

Kreative Designz offers a variety of custom items, ranging from custom converse, t-shirts, tumblers, pillows, tutus, hair bows, custom crocs, footballs, etc. Kreative Designz is known for bling and lots of it. My work ethic, determination, and level of creativity sets me apart from others. When I’m creating pieces, my goal is to customize those pieces to match the customer’s personality and what they like. Kreative Designz has become the one-stop shop to order several custom items that someone may need for any special event. I was really hesitant about going full-time especially since Covid hit right after I resigned from my full-time job, but I didn’t miss a beat. All I can say is that I have some true angels watching over me. I am not where I want to be as for as growth but within the last year Kreative Designz has grown tremendously and the growth continues so I am forever grateful for that.
