Today we’d like to introduce you to Albie Edwards.
Hi Albie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. You can include as little or as much detail as you’d like.
After having worked in the corporate world as a multi-faceted design leader in the Fashion, Home, and Paper industries for so many years, it was time to venture on my own. In 2017, I launched the FV Design Studio as an extension of the trend and fashion blog Fashion Vignette, which was created one ice storm day in 2007.
Since launching the design studio, my team and I have worked with so many clients from all different types of industries, along with our dreams and other passion projects. It’s been so amazing working with a group of creatives who have the same passion as I do. As creatives we are also dreamers and we’re so excited to launch some of our passion projects that have been in the pipeline.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The FV design studio services high-profile leading retailers and manufacturing companies globally and locally in the DFW area. Our services include trend, branding, designing exclusive products, print and pattern design, and consulting services for mid to large companies. We also consult with start-ups who have an idea but don’t know where to begin. We’ve been so blessed to work with so many companies and meet new people on our journey.
Our design studio is unique in that we are a one-stop shop type of business where we can service our clients on various types of projects. Each one of our clients’ projects is all unique, which makes it always different and interesting every time. It could be a large project from start to finish helping them create a brand, design the products, and help them launch it, or it can be a smaller scale project where they need to outsource a trend and market research for a specific season and design products based on the research findings. No projects are ever alike.
Please tell us more about your business or organization. What should we know? What do you do, what do you specialize in/what are you known for? What sets you apart from others? What are you most proud of brand-wise? What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc.?
One of our recent brand projects was exciting to work on because our client gave us full reign for creativity. It was a brand we worked on at lighting speed from creating the brand, trademarking it, developing the story, designing it, helping produce it, and launching the website Valley of Dreamers. It is a loungewear and sleepwear brand that lives by “living a good life by always being comfy”. In a short period of time, it has picked up wholesale buyers for small boutique stores and it also has an online retail platform.
We are also excited about our passion project and personal brand, Ecothologie. This project is a giving back lifestyle brand supporting communities. We curate sustainable goods from artisans. In turn, some of the proceeds from the sales are given back to organizations and charities that we are committed to helping. The dream to launch Ecothologie has been dear to my heart for so long and I finally was able to launch it. It created a balance of working with large companies thru the design studio who mass produce products. Ecothologie focuses on working with small businesses, organizations who are supporting artisans and communities to make this a better world, and products that are sustainable. It is our dream to one day design and produce our own sustainable products to add to the mix of products we currently carry.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have very fond memories of my mom who was a self-taught artist, who would craft so many things. She would sew most of my clothes and many things for our home, craft ceramics, and resins, and so many more other things. No doubt, I got my creative abilities from her. If only I could go back in time, I would have paid a lot more attention to learning the skills she had in crafting so many things, because I certainly can’t do all the things she skillfully did.
