Hidden Gems: Meet Sachina & Miguel (Maya & Miggi) of MM Jewelers.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sachina & Miguel.

Hi Miguel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Initially, my wife, Sachina (MayaTheJeweler) has been in the jewelry industry for over 15 years. But the idea for us to start our own business came about during the beginning of the pandemic. We both invested $500 each out of each other’s savings to start with a handful of product. With Sachina’s extensive years of product knowledge, we were able to search & find the best quality jewelry available from here to Houston at an affordable price to market. As far as where we are now, with my network, digital media marketing background, along with her customer service we were able to tag-team our way to rapidly growing a following as our clients continuously gave positivity feedback via social media. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our venture has had its bumps in the road. Finding out what works, what doesn’t work. But most definitely a lot of great learning lessons on what needs to be done to optimize performance without going away from what we stand for. Since we are an e-commerce brand that eventually plans to set up a physical location hopefully in the near future, one of our biggest challenge is having customers purchase higher-priced items without physically trying them on. But we have alternatives set up online to help answer any questions clients may have. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The name MM Jewelers came about from names given to us. Sachina’s Mother calls her ‘Maya’ which translates to ‘Love’ in Nepali. As for me, my name is Miguel, but everyone knows me as ‘Miggi’. So together, we make up MM Jewelers. 

Our goal is to have product available for any budget. We don’t plan to limit ourselves, to keep our options open but at the same time, know who to target. 

What sets us apart from others is the jewelry industry is a greed’s game. Commercial jewelry businesses mark up their costs extensively for low-quality product & not a lot of people know this. We are willing to lose profit in comparison to those brands to sell more product in the long run. (High Profit means Less Sales, Low Profit means More Sales) 

Our Brands tagline is “The Best Product At The Best Quality At The Best Value” and we mean that 100% 

We build our business around trust, which is why our client retention is high for that reason. Our clients trust us to give quality work & do so each & every time. 

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Your business has its peaks & lows but the main thing to do is be consistent with content, development & finding ways to better your business.
