Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Rodriguez.
Hi Alicia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have a master’s degree in Marketing and Innovation and by my profession, I have developed different types of campaigns and projects for companies inside and outside the United States, I have managed to specialize in intra-entrepreneurship programs for organizations and entrepreneurship challenges for big brands. During this process I understood that entrepreneurs are very clear about what they want to do but they do not know the details of how they should implement their idea and they are unaware of important issues such as business management and management, this fact increases in women, this is how in 2019 it is born MUJERONES Lab, a business school for women entrepreneurs through which we help them with training and mentoring to go from being entrepreneurs to businesswomen.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a path of great learning, from the moment we announced the project, companies, communities, foundations, and NGOs joined us, who have accompanied us during our growth, thanks to their support we have managed to fulfill our purpose of reaching every time to more women. The challenges have been to make them believe in themselves, that they are capable of achieving what they set out to do and that with dedication and focus their business can grow and become the great company they dream of.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mujerones Lab. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a business school and specialized consulting for women. Our mission is twofold: we are committed to educating and developing women leaders while helping to build companies that create value for society at large.
We achieve this through the generation of shared knowledge, with the creation and dissemination of innovative strategies, concepts, and tools that promote the understanding and practice of business management. We are aware that diversity strengthens any project or business model. That is why we promote diversity in all its forms, contributing with our work to the inclusion of women in the entrepreneurial and business scene in the United States and Latin America, ensuring that women of different nationalities, racial, ethnic, religious, socioeconomic, and professionals are represented and welcome in our community.
We work in alliance with organizations through our consulting and training firms, we educate in our online academy and we offer support and development programs for future businesswomen.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
When starting a business, it is important that you test your skills, you must know what you are good at, you may have one or several ideas and it is normal to feel overwhelmed, get these ideas out of your mind, put them on paper, analyze the pros and cons and determine which of them you feel more comfortable with. Study the market, see what kinds of problems you can help people solve with your ideas and skills, and ask if they would be willing to pay for that solution. Finally, put together an implementation plan taking into account the times and the investment required, this will give you a path to follow. Remember that you are the most valuable capital of your business and you must believe in yourself and in your ability to achieve what you set out to do.
