Today we’d like to introduce you to Derrick Mathis.
Hi Derrick, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started off in the industry through music. I’ll give you a quick story start off you know throwing parties, all around the city then it went to DJ’ing all the popular clubs and I got a lot of access through that with Dj Whodie (R.I.P) and Dee (909) they where the ones who took me to another level. I was already known but you know it kind of takes that effort from someone older to put a stamp on your name and that’s basically what they did seeing how I was able to move around the city and everybody knew my name then which was “TEFLON aka YUNG MONEY” but as a couple years went by switched labels from (koch to E1) but yet still had a # 1 on the radio no much video at the time the song was just that hot you couldn’t deny it. the city knows was one of the 1st to get radio play but they want say it but the streets know. Musically was the start and it expanded worldwide being that it went # 1 and toured the world biggest show was over 50,000 ppl and it was actually in the city at the original Dallas Cowboy stadium. moved to ATL switch my name to “AD Grand” as I wanted to have a fresh start and leave the pass in the pass now my own label and everything is under one roof. Right before the pandemic hit, I got my license for LMT Licensed Massage Therapy I was always good at massages because I was doing that before I was licensed with ladies. I’m single so any chance I got to give one I always did… lol they ladies never complained but I wanted to take it to the next level as I do everything else I’m a businessman so thought of the name, did the branding got my DBA’s, website all of the above, gave away free massage to build a portfolio I have camera’s and etc. so it was easy to put the content together as I did my music video’s so like I say it was something similar to what I have been doing just in another field. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t think nothing is ever a smooth road if you don’t have a struggle then what is it really for. I think that when you get something easy you care less about it so when you work HARD for it, you treat it differently. I work hard for everything I have gotten or done previously and present still to this day. The list can go on with the struggles but I always say you have to struggle in order to receive your blessings.
We’ve been impressed with Full Body Treatment (Massage), but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Full Body Treatment (Massage) what you reading is self-explanatory. The treatments vary depending what you like from a Swedish massage to a deep tissue sports/reflexology etc and there are add-ons like body steamer and massage gun etc those are like the bonus to massage. I’m good with my hands though, I never had a complaint on that end. there are a few different massages that are and have been posted that went viral and has gotten a lot of attn those massages are like the “body 2 body” that one video has over 750,000 views that’s from combined YouTube/Facebook/Instagram/twitter, etc. You I get it I think I learned over the years how to get ones attn and I know what works and I experiment with things to see if it catches ppl attn or not, but ppl attention span is so short now you got to stay on your toes and this is with everything no matter what may be your business you got to give the ppl something new but with me physical touch and connection I have with ppl and conversations most ask how are my hands so soft I just take care of myself I mean by well-groomed I’m like a neat freak when ppl come to my place they always think a women has decorated my spot.
What do you think about happiness?
Tell u the truth I’m an Aries when are rams so I’m on the side of the Aries that like to make ppl happy or feel good you know. it’s just always been in me I’m just type of person when I walk in a room, I feel eyes watching I don’t what it is but you know when u feel it, it’s always been like that.
