Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Lewis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My best friend died. In front of me. I then found myself at the Greyhound bus station for a midnight departure to New Orleans where I would spend the next nine months on the streets, in squat houses, of the ninth ward and the French quarter. The stories that unfolded there were like a gross story line in a bastardized movie script from a never heard of story writer.
While other youths my age were accomplishing college and sororities and fraternities and keg parties and meeting their spouses, I found my way back from the street smart school of hard knocks, tried my hand at community college, dropped out, and joined a rock band.
After participating in many east coast tours van-style, a fair share of original recordings, some cool compilations from the Dallas/Deep Ellum music scene of the nineties, a marriage to another musician and pregnancy, I found my way back to college.
After a Bachelor’s degree, a year of work in a mental health agency, the birth of my precious daughter, into graduate school for my Master’s degree, and into the 3000 hours it takes to become a licensed family therapist, my husband and I divorced, and I opened my first therapy practice that also housed a small art gallery.
Today, my therapy practice is still small, but bigger. I am now a licensed LPC-Supervisor who hosts many LPC-Interns (those driven brainiacs working on their own 3000 hours), and other fully licensed therapists under one roof held up by beautiful walls that still house local artists, and are the backdrop for my counsel offered generously and lovingly to the fully booked schedule of clients benefitting from my marriage of street smarts and book smarts I carry around cerebrally, and in to each session to this day.
Please tell us about Beth Lewis Therapy Group.
The Beth Lewis Therapy Group is a lovely private practice with beautiful walls that still hosts local art and only hires the freshest, smartest, street savvy therapists in town. We even throw in a therapy dog or two for free. Our therapists meet weekly to discuss cases and our own personal lives so as to facilitate a caring culture to pull from and to offer each of our clients. You won’t get that level of care anywhere else.
