Today we’d like to introduce you to Bora Laci.
Bora, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a daughter of two immigrant parents, stories were a daily part of our lives. My dad was a fantastic storyteller; he had a way of talking to people and empathizing with them in every situation. Currently, I work at a Public Policy Center, but about a year ago, my brother and I started a podcast called VentureWorlds. The podcast features Albanians worldwide who are making an impact in their community. The importance of this podcast was to show the world through other people’s eyes. As an Albanian- American, I grew up with two cultures, making me who I am today. We know we want to expand our podcast and are starting a new series next month, where we will feature more diverse backgrounds and showcase how amazing we all are.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest obstacle/challenge is time. There is so much to do, and sometimes, time can be a thief.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work in an academic research center, but I am also part of a startup that focuses on social impact for entrepreneurs worldwide. What sets me apart from others is my ability to adapt and connect with people. I love being part of the community and advocating for change, especially education. My life goal is to create a system where everyone has access to all the resources, no matter your zip code or where. Also, teaching kids the importance of a growth mindset and failure is okay; it all depends on how you get up and what you learn from it. Having access to education can open many doors, and I am trying to be that change for our community and make sure that whatever I am doing or taking part in is the central pillar of my goal.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
That is simple, authenticity, integrity, and hard work. Those three things have played a key role in my success.
