Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana Navarro.
Hi Lana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Having recently moved to Texas a couple years ago, I was so surprised to see that French macarons didn’t have as much popularity as it did back home. Where we came from, they were found on almost every dessert table from baby showers to weddings and even corporate events! When our new friends mentioned that my husband’s birthday macarons that I made were the best they’ve had, I decided to take a fun hobby and turn it into a business! It’s been such an exciting journey to introduce French macarons to a great number of people who have never heard of them before, and I am humbled by the amount of support I’ve had within our neighboring communities. The best part of this journey has been seeing the smiles on peoples’ faces when they try a sample, and especially when they confess to finishing the whole box in one sitting.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, I’ve had an overwhelming amount of support from our neighboring communities as I’ve been promoting French macarons via local FB community groups! My first community market event was a difficult one because that’s where I learned that not everyone knew what a French macaron was, or they’ve had previous experiences with the frozen varieties and overly sweet ones, and didn’t have much interest. I realized that having samples was extremely crucial!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are always working improving the taste and technique of macarons. With every batch, we aim to decrease the amount of sugar used and are constantly experimenting with different alternative sweeteners. Eventually, we want to be able to reach a wider scope of most dietary preferences!
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Aquafaba is our main ingredient.
