Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephnie Rosas.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Stephnie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for hair started when I was 13/14 when my mom was in beauty school. It wasn’t till I was 16 when I signed up for hair school that my high school offered, I received my diploma and passed my license exam at the age of 18. At this time I was interested more in makeup and my parents steered me into going to college. While in college I did makeup on clients. Brides would ask if I did hair as well which I didn’t because at that age I was confident in anything hair related. While I was in class one day (supposed to be listening to my teacher lecture) I was researching continuing education classes. I was torn between doing what made my parents happy or following my dream. I built up the courage to finish at least my associates’ degree, and take a risk and do what I love. So I left school and started applying at salons, taking extra continuing education courses. I found a really great salon named Jessy’s girl, I was trained more in depth by the head hairstylist Jessy Graham. This is where my career and love for my craft grew! I built up clientele and later left the salon (with Jessy’s blessing) and went on my own in my own salon suite. This is where I really kicked up my gear, used social media to my benefit to gain clients, to color classes with great stylist from Khloe Kardashians stylist to other Cali based amazing stylist. I love the Cali style hair beachy blonde to the beachy waves. With all the hard work this 10 years thankfully I have come a long way and I’m still young and have many more goals to hit.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My struggle was being a “young” hairstylist, I had to work extra hard and speak in a manner that says “I know Hair”
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Hair By Stephanie Rosas – what should we know?
I am known for Balayage and blondes. I specialize in blondeing “naturally dark” haired clients. I also love color corrections, it gets me thinking and keeps me knowledge for color theory on check. Lol
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband who would cheer me up when I was having days where I didn’t think I would land at a good salon, who supported me financially when I apprenticed. & most of all believing in me and my dream.
My brother is a person I would vent to while I was in college because I loved school but career wise I wanted to do hair, he was the one who gave me the push I needed to tell my parents I was not going the school route.
Jessy Graham for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to train with her. I will forever be grateful (she did say I was her best assistant ever) lol
My parents now supporting me and are proud of how far I have come.
