Tatiana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At the age of 28, I moved to the USA from Russia. I had started everything from the very beginning. Hardly knowing the English language, I started my professional path in the beauty industry. I chose permanent makeup as I can express my artistic touch in a highly technical field that is constantly evolving. I had a slight advantage when it came to having access to the most novel techniques as a European since the majority of the innovations in permanent makeup come from Europe. As a result, I opened my studio very quickly without any fear. I knew that I would succeed due to the high level of my training and the quality of permanent makeup that I offer.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road is never smooth. When you start something, when you follow your dream, life keeps testing your true dedication. I am sure that all of the business owners understand what I am talking about. In my situation, I struggled to find a really good quality school that offered solid permanent makeup education. I was not looking for a short weekend introductory course. It is impossible to master this profession in such a short period of time as the field of permanent makeup is constantly evolving. Even five years ago, the industry was very different from what it is today. The early techniques involved actual tattoo pigments that led to harsh end result that everybody could see. I did not want to do that to people’s faces. As a result, I turned to European innovators to learn the latest techniques I could only master overseas. I flew and continue to travel thousands miles to learn from industry leaders amounting to years of personal education. It was not easy to accomplish while taking care of young children, no relatives to rely on. We pulled through, nevertheless.
I am also not big on publicity and social media in general as we like to keep our lives private. At the same time, I realize the importance of social media and its vital influence on the success of a business in today’s world. Presently, I am very occupied discovering and mastering ways to promote the growth of my business on social media platforms which seems like a job on its own. It’s not my favorite thing to do but I am slowly getting a hang of it. Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Contour Permanent Makeup was found in 2016 in Denver, CO. In 2021 I opened my studio in Dallas, TX that specializes in permanent makeup. I strongly believe that it is instrumental to focus on a specific field, master the skills and offer expert services to our clients. I am a licensed esthetician in the state of Florida, Colorado, and Texas. I have been a certified permanent makeup artist since 2011. I have completed a great deal of specialized training by the world-renown European permanent makeup leaders.
What sets us apart?… I approach each case based on individual facial anatomy and skin type. With my line of work, I meet a lot of women with truly unique beauty that simply refuse to see it. Modern society has a very specific beauty standard for women, and unfortunately, not everyone falls into the “criteria”. My ultimate goal as a permanent makeup artist is to help women see their own uniqueness and individuality, not the “standard” beauty that society supports. With the help of permanent makeup, I can contour individuality and help women enhance their own beauty, boost up their self-esteem and help women love themselves.
I am sure many of you have thought about such a topic before. Not all of us have the luxury of looking like a girl from a magazine cover but that shouldn’t make us feel any less beautiful than she is! We are not meant to all be the same.
It has taken years for me to start loving and accepting myself. Mentally, physically, emotionally… a long journey with its ups and downs, that has gifted me the ability to see beauty in absolutely every woman. I see details that many don’t. That is precisely what makes me good at what I do, I see beauty in small details.
I help women see their beauty through their external transformation. My goal is to create a very individual and harmonious image without any templates! In order to get the perfect result, I take into consideration the following:
⁃ Morphological structure of the client’s face;
⁃ Client’s character and temperament;
⁃ Client’s personal style;
⁃ Color theory/palette…
These are the main aspects I am taking into account when we, my client and I, create the perfect individual look.
