Hi Nijah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
My name is Nijah Crump, known as “Boom” and I make music, model and I also have a clothing line. I’ve always been in tune with my creative side but here lately I’ve been getting more comfortable with it, building my confidence within those talents. I started off dancing on Instagram, to sing/rapping on SoundCloud but also being the most antisocial person ever, then turn around and perform at every event on my college campus. Created my brand EXHALE, Started modeling, etc… Now I’m just looking for the right opportunities to continue making strides in the right direction to being a success story
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been an easy road at all. Trying to do it all myself at such a young age becomes stressful. Also battling depression and anxiety it’s a battle every day and sometimes that battle last a week straight which becomes a stickler in my plans of creating. But I’ve pushed through and I plan to keep prevailing. I know nothing worth having comes easy
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a recording artist. typically described as the neo-soul vibe. Real nice and soothing, something you can listen to early in the morning on the way to work or after a long day. I’ve also been a freelance model since 2020. I’ve walked in a few shows and have added to my portfolio over time. My clothing line which is called EXHALE which stands for EXceeding Hate and Living Every day. Which I created for people such as myself, who deal with anxiety and depression. When dealing with an “episode” the first thing a person would tell you is “just breathe” and sometimes that’s absolutely the hardest thing to do in the moment. And we become dependent on some sort of escape. but I’m looking to be my own breath of fresh air! I feel like we’re all looking for a release and to simply exhale
What’s next?
My plans for the future are to just keep making progress in the things that I’m passionate about and have found happiness within. Build my brand. Drop more music, along with visuals, because I’ve been holding out. My goals for my future in modeling, I hope to be walking for major designers one day
