Today we’d like to introduce you to Schaleea Waites.
Hi Schaleea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been having passion for music since I was in the womb! (So my mom tells me). I’ve been shy growing up but since age 15 I’ve been coming out of my shell & embracing the thing I love so much!!!
I wouldn’t have got to where I am today without faith… passion… or my support system! My siblings, Mother & Ride or dieeee.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, to say the least. There’s been plenty of days that I wanted to give up. Just stop, because it was too overwhelming sometimes. I have trouble with my breathing & my social anxiety kicks in. As well as my mental health declining simultaneously!
But my support system, NEVER let me give up.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist, but specifically, a rapper! I’m known for being unapologetically ME. I’m most proud of my most recent mixtape, “With All Disrespect”. I feel like what sets me apart is living in my truth. Embracing my masculine side & my feminine side, and GOOD at it.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I love TikTok! Very intrigued by a book called “Illustrated book of Natural Remedies”. I like pinterest as well & the podcast “A Slight Change”.
