Today we’d like to introduce you to Chesley Rogers.
Hi Chesley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew it was meant for me to do something creative. I loved to color, dance, model, and act. I grew up in Jacksonville, Texas, a small town in East Texas. I knew when I graduated high school I wanted to move to Dallas for a better opportunity. I got into doing nails Spring of 2018. I order a starter kit online and invited my cousin over to practice on her nails. Let me tell you they turned out horrible! lol but I saw potential and I kept going. I started posting my work on social media and people started messaging me wanting to come get their nails done. At that point, I knew it was something I was meant to do. I finally found something creative that I love and can make a career out of. I then enrolled in cosmetology school where I got my manicure license in July 2019. Soon after that I got my LLC and named my business SynfulNailz LLC.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the challenges I faced was working full-time, going to night school, and being a single mother all in one! I had a lot of days where I wanted to quit because it became overwhelming at times. But I wanted to make my son proud, and I knew with the help of my parents caring for him at night while I was in class it would all work out in the end.
Another struggle I had was being consistent with posting on social media and doing nails every day. I had days where I would have a lot of clients. Some days I wouldn’t have any clients and I would get discouraged. I am still currently in the process of building my clientele. I decided on days that were slow I would work on doing press on nails, building my website, content, etc. Doing this has helped pushed me to keep going and staying consistent.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in acrylic nails, manicures, and gel and/or acrylic press-on nails. I am known for creating all types of designs and far as encapsulated nails, marble nails, ombre nails, and many more designs to make your nails more beautiful! I love to freestyle designs or even recreate different looks when a client has a request, but I always love to put my own spin to it and make it more of my own.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My boyfriend has played a big role in my success for my business. He is always passing out my business cards and showing pictures of my work to potential clients every chance he gets. He is also a big help with my press on nail business. He helps with packaging and making runs to the post office to ship off orders. I thank him so much. My cousin has also played a big role of my success for my business. She was my very first practice model. She was always open for me to practice on different types of designs to better myself with my creativity.
Last but not least I have to also give credit to my big sister. She has always encouraged me to keep going with my business and always finding ways for me to network and get my work out there. She was also my nail model for my state board exam to get my license. She was so excited to be apart of that moment. I can always count on her to be there for me, Thank you sis :-).
