Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenzie Mammeli.
Hi Kenzie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story begins during early high school, beauty has always been my way of expressing myself. Growing up presentation was everything, but I always had a twist, doing creative hairdos to bold makeup looks. Throughout high school, I was the girl on the basketball team that braided the whole team’s hair before EACH game. I was the girl everyone came to when it came to doing their hair and makeup for homecoming or prom. To me it was just fun, my obsession with extensions came around when I would get crazy clip-in extensions or added ponytail pieces to my hair. It was the best way to get the look that I wanted ‘quick and effortlessly, I was obsessed. It wasn’t till my 20’s that, I then knew what my true calling was! Making women feel empowered and strong while still holding on to their feminine energy. I never wanted to not live out my true authentic self. I was from a small town, so I knew to make It, I had to move to the big city. I worked at what was known as “The best extension salon in Dallas” and learned from top beauty professionals all the tricks of the trade. I knew I wanted to be better than the best, so I attended 2-3 education classes a year to better my craft. After 5 years I noticed I started to lose myself, that same bubbly personality that would do creative hair and bold makeup looks was gone. So, I knew I needed a change! Now don’t let the tattoos and dark hair fool you I have the biggest heart. I believe in open-door policy and can’t wait for you to come in and enjoy a one-on-one luxe experience.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
If I said that it was easy, I would be lying. Beginning my journey, I had trouble with the test-taking portion to get my license. I am a very hands-on learner but when it comes to A, B, C, D, you can count me out. Though I had trouble with it there was actually a silver lining. When I first started in the hair industry, I was a manager. That is where I learned all things business and for that, I am forever grateful. Once I was behind the chair, I became so involved I put the rest of my life on the back burner. Everything from relationships to family, that’s when I truly became burnt out and knew it was time for a change. Losing yourself can take a mental and physical toll on you, being my own boss has done nothing but make me extremely happy.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kenzie Nicole?
I focus my work on hair extension and lifestyle color. I specialize in 3 different hair enhancement methods: weft, top pieces, and temporary extension. My color ranges from ordinary to bold depending on desired results. I make sure to stay up to date on the latest fashion and trends. I thrive off education I attend 2-3 new education classes a year. Something I strive for in my salon is a very open space, I make sure women walk out with a new mindset and new hair. If you’ve ever heard the term “hairapist” that’s me. I am firm believer in women empowerment and self-love. I am extremely proud the feedback I get from my clients saying how much they needed their time with me to maybe even escape from reality. I love to provide a safe space for women. I feel like your hair is the crown you never take off!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
What’s crazy is at 23 success was a dollar sign! As I have grown, I define success as much more than that, I define it as freedom. The freedom to be able to manage your time differently, the freedom to be prosperous, and the freedom to be who you are. That is success to me, I do believe in working hard and good karma.
