Conversations with Cindy Cymerman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Cymerman.

Hi Cindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Cindy, I was born and raised in Lima, Peru. On May 2006, I was 17 years old, I moved to Florida with my dad and 2 years later I moved to Dallas, TX; where I met my husband Jonathan and got married 2 years later. In 2015, I became a Medical Esthetician and I was a Makeup Artist. My passion has always been art and being creative but my BIGGEST DREAM was to become a mom.

My story began in 2017 when I had my 1st baby Benjamin, and then I became a stay-at-home mom. I quickly realized I wanted to practice gentle parenting, Montessori education, and homeschool, my kids, during their early years. I wanted to be more mindful of their playtime and learning activities, so I read many books and watched many videos about those topics.

Then in 2019, I had my second baby, Oliver, and I started to introduce sensory play to my then 2-year-old son.

I was fascinated with how much he was enjoying and learning from sensory play.

In 2020, my 3-year-old got sick and due to sensory issues, he no longer wanted to chew food so I had to provide therapy by myself with some guidance for about 6 months.

My son finally recovered and started to eat again. During those 6 months, I worked super hard on fixing his sensory issues and stepped up my game on sensory play and activities which helped him tremendously.

After going through the nightmare of seeing my child not eat regular food, I wanted to help other moms by providing sensory play ideas and sharing our daily homeschool activities.

I have never shared on social media the reason behind this account because it is still a very sensitive topic for me.

So, in late 2020, I started our Instagram account full time and I haven’t stopped since then.

My community started to grow and now I have over 6K followers. I have been able to provide my children with so many amazing resources while working with wonderful well-known brands, all thanks to our little community.

Special thanks to my amazing husband for being my biggest fan and supporter and to my beautiful baby boys who are my inspiration to be a better mom every day. My biggest dream was always being a mom.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are many accounts that you can get inspired from so I guess people like to relate to you depending on personality or background.

I spend my nights to create fun activities for my children and see their happy face with different and fun themes are the best gift!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love to create different and fun learning activities for my children. I know I am super extra haha but I love to use my creativity for my children and we both enjoy it.

Sensory play art has been the most fun for me! I love to create art with sensory rice and my children get inspired and also try to recreate.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Beni and Olie’s Playroom has been my creative outlet. I have connected with so many amazing moms, I even talk to some every day.

Homeschooling was new to me but I love being my children first teacher and let them learn at their own pace and follow their interests and not rush them to accomplish a milestone.

It has been an amazing ride so far and I am thankful for the opportunity I have to enjoy my babies to the fullest while also inspiring other mommas out there.
