Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanni Benitez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
So I really started taking photos after high school on trips with friends… mostly landscape photography and it was only on an iPhone. But looking back on my iG posts I have honestly always been into photography, I’d be the one taking pictures of random moments or trying to capture a different angle of a pizza. In 2019 I had a good paying job and could afford an actual camera. At that point, I knew I wanted to start my photography career… I started practicing as much as I could when I could. After a year or so of having my camera and a pandemic occurring, I had decided I knew what I wanted to do with my life. And it did not involve sitting in a cubicle working for a company that had no interest in my future. April 2021, I quit my job of 7 years to pursue my photography journey. I am now a full-time content creator, from portrait photography to travel videos and all in between.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most definitely has not been a smooth road. A big factor in being successful is having full confidence in yourself. You will get nowhere if you are not the first one to believe you can accomplish whatever you want. I did not believe that I could be at a point in my life where I could actually be doing something I enjoyed and get paid for it. Without self confidence I would have never gotten the courage to quit my job and pursue this career. One thing I have learned from this is if you do not believe in yourself, then no one will.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I consider myself a full-time photographer but when I start talking about my work, I am more of a Content Creator. From landscape photography too gender reveal videos. At the moment I am taking all the work that comes my way. Although my passion is traveling and landscape photography, I have a huge passion on capturing raw moments for people. Knowing that an image that I captured and curated can make someone feel loved, remembered, or happy is something so rewarding in my book.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
