Today we’d like to introduce you to Charmaine Wilson. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Charmaine Wilson is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner by The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is licensed in the state of Texas to provide family-centered health care for patients of all ages. She has been in the healthcare field for 12 years now.
Her scope of practice encompasses aesthetic medicine. She offers the following services: injectables including botox and fillers, weight loss packages that include medication, dietary coaching, TruSculpt iD, and other beauty enhancement services such as laser therapies and Secret RF. Because Charmaine is a Family Nurse Practitioner she is trained and experienced in health promotion, disease prevention, telemedicine, diagnosis, and management of common and complex health care problems.
In 2017, she began her career as a Nurse Practitioner and have always found joy in making others feel happy about themselves. This lead her into aesthetic medicine. “There is nothing like when someone look in the mirror and is WOWED! They often say how pretty they feel and that I look like my younger self.” This alone make Charmaine love being the owner and operator of Tres Bien Aesthetic.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road no, but the path towards success is what makes you. We learn from all experiences, whether good or bad. There are many nights I often wonder is it possible to grow the business; can I get enough clientele for this to be successful. As most entrepreneurs know it is not easy getting things off the ground. I am my own marketer, media producer, information technology, and financial person, as well as provider. Well at least until I start making enough capital to outsource these services. Not to mention in the state of Texas mid-level providers such as Nurse Practitioners must hire a Supervising Physician to be within compliance legally if he/she opens their own business. This a monthly fee that has to be paid regardless if revenue is made or not. Finding a reasonable priced Supervising Physician is not easy, but eventually, I found one.
Lastly, a major struggle is being an African American provider in this business. Unfortunately, many African Americans or people of color are not as familiar with botox, fillers, or many of the services offered in Aesthetic medicine. So, I often have to do lots of educating and it is so interesting how many first-time clients love the outcome of botox, fillers, and Secret RF. I often hear “You have a client for life now! I love this!” As you know lots of business grow by word of mouth so if the majority of my initial clientele is African American then lots of my referrals are as well. So, I will continue to educate and show how these services can enhance everyone’s beauty!
