Conversations with Chelsea Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Lee.

Hi Chelsea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I never thought I’d be in the beauty industry, getting fired from my job and going to cosmetology school was the best thing that ever happened to me honestly! When I started, I was only interested in nails but we had to learn how to do hair as well! It was a struggle at first but I caught the hang of things pretty fast and ended up being really good at it, I was selected to be Salon Manager of my class which blew my mind because I came for NAILS and a lot of my other classmates were already doing hair before they started school. My instructors really gave me that push I needed! I’m now licensed and at Pressed Roots Downtown in Trinity Groves! I thank God for keeping me patient and humble, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning, it was hard for me not to get discouraged since most of my classmates already knew how to do hair. While I was literally clueless! Once it came to the nail phase, they could not shut me up. When I think and look back it’s funny.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in natural hair care; wig installs and nails. I’m known for making my clients look and feel flawless! I’m most proud of myself for not giving up and perfecting my craft. My drive for success, love/passion for hair sets me apart from others.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Let God lead you and trust the process! When you’re not sure keep in mind that he will never steer you wrong, even if it’s uncomfortable it won’t be for long.
