ElexisTx is a new and groundbreaking artist based out of Dallas, Texas. Music and art has always been a passion for her since the young age of 4 years old from watching her mother sing and create artwork. Her music ranges from different genres including hip-hop, R&B, Funk, and Pop and she plans to expand her portfolio with more. What sets her apart from the rest is that she writes all of her own music and proudly claims every lyric be true and based on real-life experiences.
The name ElexisTx may sound familiar to some by ear since it is referenced to the popular adult film actress “Alexis Texas”, and when asked what was the inspiration behind her name she simply states, “One of my middle names is Elexis, I’m from Texas, and I’m a freak b*tch.” Growing up shy and soft-spoken she has learned to find her confidence through music and artwork which she calls her therapy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road is always as smooth as you make it. I personally believe that nothing in life is handed to you so you have to create the vision for yourself. I’m human enough to admit that I do not always create the best circumstances for myself but I always try to create and that’s what matters most to me. Some struggles I’ve endured were dealing with abortion, depression, anxiety, fear and doubt. Every day I can choose to allow those dark memories to narrate my life but I choose the opposite and that is to create the path that brings me the most peace. Which is Art.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a multi-faceted artist. Period. I sing, draw, paint, write, rap, perform, model, and own a cosmetic brand named “Unfilterd Cosmetics” where I am a traveling makeup artist. It’s been 10 years of recognizing my talents and honing them properly. I’m most proud of the risks I choose to take to better myself. I come from the hood just like everyone else I know but I do not allow that to be the reason why I cannot succeed. Having unbelievable faith, ambition, a supportive team and this entrepreneurial mindset sets me apart from others.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years I see myself breaking into the industry in the sexiest era of my life! No seriously, the sexiest! I’m only 24 and with the help of supporters, I’ve been able to accomplish many things under a short span of time. In 5-10 years, the big shift that I would have to get prepared for is the naysayers. But I am ready because they come and go just like trends.
