Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Anna Bowman.
Julie Anna, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I found my passion for recruiting pretty early on in my career.
I started my career in Human Resources as an HR Coordinator. I had recently graduated from Baylor University and was excited to put my degree in Business and Human Resources to good use. As an HR Coordinator, I witnessed the company partnering with a staffing firm to hire 100+ candidates. I quickly became interested in recruiting and admired the fast-paced nature of the business. I started my career in Recruiting with a small boutique firm and through my network, quickly landed at Addison Group in Chicago, IL (our company HQ).
Addison Group partners with all businesses on a variety of positions from Finance/Accounting to IT to Human Resources/Administrative. I found my niche connecting Human Resources and Administrative professionals to opportunities. After a year in Chicago, I had the opportunity to join a new branch in Denver, CO. In just a few short weeks, I moved to Denver to be part of a start-up office. In this role, I had the opportunity to take on more leadership tasks and quickly fell in love with not only recruiting but also the sales side of the business.
I recently relocated to our fastest growing branch in Dallas, TX. In Dallas, I am transitioning from recruiting to business development. I absolutely love connecting talent to opportunities. In recruiting, I really focused on helping candidates find their forever “home”. It’s exciting being in business development now because not only do I get to connect candidates to opportunities, but I also get to be proactive! I get to call clients and tell them about amazing candidates that could make a positive impact on their company and assist them in meeting their goals.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have had my fair share of challenges along the way. One of the biggest challenges for me happened in Denver. In Denver, we wore many hats and I needed to expand my role and be able to talk to clients. Initially, I was terrified to get on the phone. I had no idea what to say, how to quote pricing and just afraid of being awkward on the phone.
After getting over my fear, I was able to navigate client calls and it was not bad. It quickly became the favorite part of the day. I loved talking with clients about their needs and candidates that would be a good fit. After a few calls, I realized my fear had been unwarranted. After all, clients are people and I am contacting them because I can help.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Addison Group – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
So much to tell! Addison Group is one of the fastest growing private staffing firms. I like to think of Addison Group as professional matchmakers and connectors. Basically the Oprah of the staffing industry. We specialize in filling company’s contract, contract-to-hire, or direct hire positions with professional candidates. Our connections — and our candidates — are the best.
We started in 1999 and quickly expanded to 19 offices nationwide. We specialize in multiple industry sectors, including IT, Finance/Accounting, Engineering, Healthcare and HR/Administrative roles.
Addison Group is the best staffing company out there because we are not just about the bottom line. I am proud to work at Addison Group because we treat our clients and candidates as equal partners. We have a consultative approach to staffing and go the extra mile for both our candidates and clients. We meet with every candidate and client face to face to establish a long-term relationship. We also get the majority of our business through referrals.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
White Rock Lake! I love getting out of the city and running along the lake with my Goldendoodle, Denzel.
I also love concerts at the Rustic, there is something magical about sitting outside, drinking a beer and listening to country/soul music.
Dislikes: Lack of public transit. Our city is expanding and so is our traffic. I’d love to see more public transit options in the future.
