Daily Inspiration: Meet Aubrey West

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey West.

Hi Aubrey, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
For a long time, I felt indecisive when figuring out life. The idea of committing to one path bothered me. Similar feelings existed when it came to my passions, education, and even my career plans. After plenty of reflection, I was able to find one underlying theme out of all my interests and aspirations: guiding others to development and success. Today, I’m proud to say I am a successful coach in fields including personal development as well as health and wellness. I’ve also found impactful ways to express overcoming hardship through creating music, which has been an outlet for myself and so many others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been far from smooth, but the beauty of this entire experience has been falling in love with the process. There are times I was hesitant to take risks and bet on myself, but I’ve had to recognize that I was standing in my way as a professional and a creative. I never wanted to live life knowing that I hadn’t given myself my all. I think it’s safe to say that if we don’t believe in ourselves, it’s difficult to expect others to. Building confidence from the ground up wasn’t easy, but it’s led me to where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My true story is told through my music. Being able to express my experiences, emotions, and life lessons through this medium have been an outlet for me and a way to connect with others. I am most known for staying true to my calm and relaxed nature which allows me to be a calming influence on others. I’ve been able to gently share some of my toughest stories by creating through a fusion of Hip-Hop and Neo-Soul genres. I released my first project, “Vibrations” in 2018, “Stay True” in 2019, “Johnson St.” in 2020, and several singles including “Soulovely” in 2021. Currently, I have a project titled “333” in the works.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always had a creative nature. My father and I both shared a passion for music. I recorded my first song at the age of 14 and I’m continuing 12 years later. I had a hard time expressing my emotions as a child, but music made it easier. My success coaching derived from my childhood as well. I was heavily involved in sports and looked up to my coaches. I knew that the same impact they had on me, I wanted to have on others. As a certified personal trainer, wellness coach, and success coach at a University, I can use principles such as accountability, motivation, and progressive development that were instilled in me as a young athlete.
