Community Highlights: Meet Alexandria Hood of Wall Street Been Black

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Hood.

Alexandria, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Attending a PWI during my formative years shaped me. I was able to catch glimpses of the advantages that some were able to receive that others were not. It drove me away from educational institutions and towards cultivating my community and those who looked like me; whether culturally, financially, or mentally. I enlisted in the Army and proudly served for 6 years. My time in service gave me the opportunity to find stability, network, and place my hands in different pots. I quickly learned I loved everything that had to do with creating and business. After my time in the Army was over, I went through a transitional period in the corporate world, and then the pandemic hit. Last hired, first fired. I knew it was time to put my fate in my own hands and it led me to the Stock Market. At this time the Market was “on-sale” I made great investments and learned about Options Trading. I threw myself into every book, podcast, and video I could find. I sacrificed time with friends, family, and hobbies in order to secure my future. One day I looked at a chart and thought of how confusing it used to look, and decided I wanted to be the one to clear any confusion for others. I began working on personalized 1-on-1 courses for beginners and transformed it to multiple courses for all trading levels. I also began my first podcast, “Intentional Safe Space” as an outlet for mental health, and later on “TickTock, Don’t Stop!” with my extremely entrepreneurial sister- in- law, Kelsey Brock. Two years later, and I have never looked back. History repeated itself, Wall Street Been Black.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a Black, female, Professional Trader, in a white, male-dominated industry has had his challenges. I also had an internal struggle when cementing my brand’s name. I did not want “Wall Street Been Black” to come off as an exclusive invitation. My mission statement is “to provide financial literacy to everyone, regardless of demographics or circumstances”. Financial literacy is not a subject widely talked about in school systems, we are here to be that resource for everyone.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Over the past 4 years, I have had the opportunity to host events, start three podcasts, and grow my trading account, Wall Street Been Black is a resource center for Traders of all levels, those wanting to start a business, Podcasters, and more! Through the website, you will be able to book a 1-on-1 personalized Option Trading course, secure business resources, and find a one-stop-shop for financial literacy. So far, my proudest moment is the creation of my App, “Wall Street Been Back” (available on all App Stores). I wanted a platform that was a community. It includes several chat rooms with different topics, every necessary trading resource, and notifications that send out information about stocks to invest in and day trade. I wanted complete control and decided to take the time to read and learn how to code on my own! (How To Create an App Course coming soon!)

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I do not believe luck has a role in my accomplishments or life lessons. Every battle God has placed me in, I defeated and was reborn with more clarity and strength. We are taught that He is a righteous God who will not place anything on us that we cannot shoulder; therefore, everything I have endured happened so that I can go forth, share my testimony, and mentor my community. Mental wealth, financial freedom, and business literacy is possible to anyone, and Wall Street Been Black is here to show you how.
