Exploring Life & Business with Danielle Doty of The Doty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Doty.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It’s such a long story when I look back and see all that God has orchestrated in my life to get me here, but I’ll make it as short & sweet as I can. I grew up knowing that I wanted to be a ‘mom with a briefcase’ but had no idea what that would look like. I imagine there had to be working moms with a big family and a thriving careers, but I personally didn’t know of any. I married my husband in college with plans to work in the corporate world for a while. But 3 months into the marriage, we found out that we were pregnant. I decided to stay home and raise babies. I was certain that one day I would work again but didn’t put much thought into it. After my fourth baby was born, I felt this overwhelming feeling that it wasn’t fair for my husband to work so much and miss out on a lot of magical fatherhood moments. It hit me that he loved being a dad as much as I loved being a mom and our kids craved his time as much as they did mine. I felt like God told me to get into real estate on my 28th birthday while out with friends & family. I decided to not question His timing and jumped right in. It was a visceral decision because of my babies being so young, but I’ve never once regretted it!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Real estate is not a smooth road. The assumptions people make about this industry are usually far from the truth. You do not have a flexible schedule; you’re on everybody else’s time. It doesn’t matter who you know; it’s more important who knows you. You don’t get to look at houses day in and day out; this business is such a people industry because you’re mostly working with people to meet an end goal, I entered this business as an agent with 4 kids under the age of 5 and custody of my husband’s half-brother (who we love like a son). I found out that I was pregnant again within 6 months after obtaining my license. I had a baby in February of 2020 and then the whole world shut down a month later. I was the only income in our household for a few months. The real estate market has changed many times since then as well. It is a tough market for everybody, but especially as a working mom of 6. I am usually struggling to stay on top of household chores, childcare availability, and personal to-dos on top of my career. The adversity that I’ve had in my career has made me a stronger person overall so I can’t be anything but thankful at the end of the day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Doty Group is a real estate group within Rogers Healy and Associates. We represent clients who buy, sell, lease, build and invest in real estate. We work anywhere, at any price point. We can even assist clients relocating outside of DFW with our preferred partners. I grew up in Southlake, graduated college in Denton, had my first corporate job in Frisco, currently work for a brokerage in Dallas, and spend a lot of time in Fort Worth which gives me great knowledge in multiple markets. I also prioritize networking with other agents in order to better serve my clients. I value community over competition which has proven to be beneficial in my professional career. I hope my brand represents hard work, integrity, and positivity. I value home and love helping people find their own. I have always worked hard for my money. I get excited to facilitate the transactions necessary for my clients to gain wealth through their real estate investments. I stress to clients that if you own a home, you’re automatically an investor. While I work for a paycheck, there are other factors that give me a reward while representing clients. I ensure each and every one of them that I keep their best interest at the forefront. Integrity is always my intention.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like how it still feels like a small town. My husband grew up here and now my babies will grow up here. It’s nice to run into familiar faces around town. I wish our city had more small businesses. I love supporting local families more than big franchises.
